Title: insignia washer jets
Post by: Andy B on 30 August 2010, 21:34:29
I've seen mention of these ......... but senility means I can't now find it. :-[   They are on eBay for around £5 for the pair clicky (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Insignia-Washer-Jets-12782508-12782509-/270616477161?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM)  How does that compare with the dealer's price?

Fan shaped spray pattern which wets the screen better and results in lower screen wash useage

Not to bad, drivers side is hardest.

You have to swap the heaters over to (not essential but the insignia does not have washer heaters)

Trouble with HID's is you still use about 3 litres every night time trip when there's spray from the road!!!

Weve got loads of photos....intended doing a how2

May try and finish at newent, or here

The trickiest bit iirc was removing the heater from the old to glue into the new ones.

H21 used a hacksaw blade and sliced down the originals to extract the blue heating element.  :y

Just leave them in the bonnet and fit the Insignia ones in the skuttle. That's what I've done anyway :y

Indeed but good savings during the day and the improved spray pattern means the screen cleans and clears better

Only down side imo is slightly poorer visibility when the spray hits the screen, but its only for a second, but also means less dry screen for the blades to drag over, and have to be carefull removing the unit from the scuttle as the little clips holding them in snapped off on mine, they are still a push fit so stay in, other than those two minor issues its all good. Better spray on the screen and less fluid used.

A good recomendation from the master imo.

Dont suppose insignia headlight washers are any more frugal? if they even remotely fit....?

I have been wondering about modifying the timer module to give a shorter squirt... (Or taking it out for no squirt at all and keeping a cloth in the boot.) ;)

30A fuse in the engine bay box, along side the relays ;) ;)

I know this because I removed it last summer and it took me about 3 hours to trace why they weren't working come winter :-[ :-[ ::) ::)

short squirt would be good, but certainly on mine there is too much fluid used, i think mainly becauase there is also fluid leaking from the ball socket around the washer jet itself, i've tried adjusting them so they sit at a flat and square to give even seal all the way round, but no better...
....i would like to keep 'some' fluid flowing as designed, wondered about fitting new head light jets as well, or if a lower powered pump would work?

but as you say, the hl washer timer is set no matter how long you hold the stalk.

not just an omega problem this, saw a certain german make car at dusk, three cars up on the m4, huge cloude burst in front of it, i thought it had burst its rad or something. But no, just the driver cleaning his screen and showering the screens of all 4 cars behind it. Bless, so helpfull.
