Title: Is my car an omega b or c?
Post by: M4DMATT on 30 August 2010, 16:33:19
This is really confusing me. Its a 2001 facelift, when i order parts some people have asked me if its an omega b or c. To which i just give the year of the car. Sometimes this works others it doesnt  :-/
Another place this has cropped up is ebay. I do try to steer clear, but a few goodies have popped up and im not sure which i should look at? Is there a definitive answer??

Cheers

Matt

Omega B Facelift, no such thing as a C

Yes. They only got to Omega B (Omega A was what we in GB called a Carlton), no such thing as an Omega C but facelift cars are often refered to as a C as you've found out.
A bit like a Mk V Cortina. Correect model was Mk IV (1980 series) but everyone knew what you were talking about if you asked for bits for a Mk V  :y

Thats great thank you  :y
Which leads me to my next question, i take it most things are interechangeable between pre and post facelift but if i were to need for example a bootlid, i would need to ask for an omega b facelift boot?

I know i may sound daft but im great at ordering the wrong bits and the more money i waste the more the wife moans  :D

I'd say that was the wrong assumption to make. A pre face boot lid, for example, probably would fit but it may not line up 100% with the rear lights and bumper on a facelift, also they changed the appearance of the handle so it may not even latch.

Your best off with parts that come from a vehicle that was manufactured around the same time as yours.

Not without a welder, a spare fridge for parts, and a cutter....

As Rob says, nope it won't fit, square peg and a round hole, it would not fit....
