another COW (can of worms) from bear :y :y :y :y :y
-
I love the old shape back end & interior but like the facelift front end better :y
-
i liked the early omega shape. but on reading reviews/ comments was put off by the tin worm aspect.
grown to like the facelift and grey slab interior and door panels although there is in places very slight corrosion issues in weird places?
-
Probably facelift, though I remember seeing one for the first time and thinking what a mess they'd made of the shape...
-
It's that bloody awful rubber coating they've stuck on everything in the facelift interior that spoils it for me :(
-
I prefer the facelift.

A while back there were photo's of a preface lift car with an Astra G facelift front end! Sounds like it would have been your perfect car. :y :y :y :y
-
I prefer the preface lift interior, don't like the look of the centre and wood in the face lift models.
As for the outside I like the look of both :y
-
Like both :D :y
-
prefaceliftt mv6 for me any day of the week :y
-
I like the look of the facelifts but the interior leaves a lot to be desired, far to 'plastic fantastic' for my liking. Pre-facelift all the way for me :y
-
Facelift I think looks loads better, much fresher outside, I think the pre-facelift is starting to look dated now. Interior wise again I prefer the facelift, but much prefer the pre-facelift feel inside, facelift feels rather cheap in places, whereas the pre-facelift feels solid.
-
Facelift, always, bar the tactile finish, although that would be ok if it didn't scratch off...but I do miss the pre face lift climate "dials", I liked those.
-
Defo PFL.....just looks a lot more substantial inside.
-
first omega i drove was a brand new facelift in 2002, thought it was brilliant and it was only a 2.2 i think. then ive owned my minifacelift for over 6 years and i always prefered the refined shape of those, particularly the rear end, as the styling is subtle. ive never been a fan of the facelift rear end, as serek put it "the back lights look like massive brackets". but i do like the front end of the facelift. i have seen some motors where the owners have modded the front end to be a facelift and left the rear end prefacelift, seems to be a great combination.
as for interiors, the facelift is a lot more upto date, although the quality of the laminate on panels leaves a lot to be desired. i like the prefacelift interior too, its far more intuitive i think.
ive just bought a new facelift so maybe i'll reserve judgement til i've got used to it hehe, but in standard form, like for like, id probably go with the prefacelift
-
I have one of each at the moment and the fL interior is awful quality.
My mini FL has had the FL bumper and side strips added along with the front colour coded which I think is the perfect mix of the two. Just my opinion !
-
Facelift... all the way! :D
-
Prefer the facelift - the side view is awesome, rear end a bit tidier, as is the interior, but I agree with other comments about the strange plastics. Facelift front end being a bit longer and pointier is maybe why the bumpers are often scuffed.
-
facelift particularly with the irmscher kit
-
old shape.. any day..
-
i have new shape. i love the back end but i prefer the front end from the old shape.
-
If the options had been:
Old shape, new shape or a proper car....... I could have answered.
-
Mini facelift with face lift side trims ;)

you must have another car as well as the Laguna then ::) ::)
-
I have both on my driveway, both pretty similar spec. I always jump in the prefacelift ;)
-
Pre-F/L :y
Exterior:
The front of the earlier cars look more aggressive.... the F/L model looks like an Astra.
Door mirrors are hideous on the later cars.
Add F/L bump strips and colour code the black parts of the bumper and you have the best look.
I am endeared by the boot of the F/L though, the little crease looks more modern.
Interior:
With the exception of the door-cards, the Pre F/L is infinitely better than the later cars. What were they thinking? :(

A Renault though seriously :-?
You may say it has needed nothing, but my Omega in 5 years cost me, an exhaust, 2 sets of pads & discs, cambelt, aux belt and rocker cover gaskets, a water pump in keeping with cambelt etc, an alternator, an ABS ECU and a battery. Now half of that list is normal wear & tear on a car, so Omega's bad, I think not. As with your Renault obviously, you get your good one and bad ones.

i think there are good and bad examples of all cars. i have spoken to loads of people (not on this site) and they have nothing but praise for the omega. reliable, comfy, good performance, engine great etc etc but it sounds like u may have got a 'bad 'un'. :( my point is i think thats rare :)

Yes mate, have a '56' 5 series BMW and an '09' Mercedes C220 CDi AMG sport, plenty of other things lurking at the moment too, but they're the most commonly driven the others are bought to be sold instantly. I'll give you the link to the pictures :y

It's a fantastic car too :y
-
deffo the mini face for me. i do like the rear end of the facelift estate but not the saloon. i think pete has the right idea though, facelift side strips on the mini face do look good. :y
the f/l interior i think is crap. [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
-
Happy with either from the outside, though prefer the estate to be honest, however preferred the older interior, particularly pre passenger air bag, the top bit was perfect for cassette tapes... :y And the space beside the radio, perfect for you pack of ciggies, our old black estate had all of this, the red one is different inside but not facelift...
Facelift seems to have lots of hidy places but no real space for storage of items in the cabin, not even anywhere to put your sunglasses ::) ::) and those door flaps can't be used when driving as you need your left hand to get anything out.. ::) ::)
