Quick scan through E-Gay and saw this

"not your usual taxi." Liked that bit. ;D ;D ;D ;D
But why not? You can change mechanicals, wishbones etc easy enough.
-
Previous owner-Captain Kirk ;D with that mileage
-
Thought taxis had to be no more than 5 years old?
-
I seen that myself, it's a bit crazy!
Do you think it would be good for another 100 thousand? How strong are the DTi engines? ::)
-
They are good engines, just let down by dodgy fuel pump electronics.
They still use 10 year old Vectra b's around this neck of the woods, I guess the 'taxis under 5 years old rule' is only in certain parts of the country?
I have purchased an ex taxi in the past (Cavalier 1.7 TD CDX) it was fine once all the suspension and interior were changed...
-
I was put off the DTi's because I was told they are a lot softer and more likely to go wrong than the TD (which I ended up buying). I needed an oil burner for work and was lucky enough to find a facelift TD but now I've changed jobs, I don't need her.
I've never had a problem with mine and she's in her late 130's! I love the turbine sound off the 2.5TD! :D
-
It looks really tidy! Those seats have stood up to the task well too :o

You must be thinking of the 1.7
Not on the 2.2Dti.
It can suffer pump internal seals and diagphram issues but most of these can be avoided if the fuel filter is changed regularly nad the water drained from it.

You cna get that off a lawnmower if you fit a viscous fan to it :y
-
I had a BM 325 TDSE (same 6 pot for Mig 2.5TD) that was up to 390K, currently running one of my FL 3.0 MV6 thats well over 210K, FSH and still runs sweet.
:y
-
390k is some mileage!! It's a testiment to the quality of the german engines. I think they would run forever with plenty of servicing & a loving driver. :P

up here in Falkirk 8-10yrs is enough for a car to be a taxi and they must be mot every 6 months

Is it not the same 2.2 diesel eco-tec lump (y22dth) as found in Vectra b's and c's?
They have an electronic control board mounted to the side of the pump, which itself is bolted to the block. The electronics suffer due to heat and vibration. It is a known issue on 2.0 and 2.2 diesel Vectra's...
-
The older 1.7 Isuzu lump is a good engine, the 1.7 G.M. unit, out around the same time, is not so good...

Never causes any issues on the Omega.
In fact, past experience sudgests its only a significant issue on the 1.7's and is very often WRONGLY diagnosed as the cause on the 2.0 and 2.2 as a result.
I have seen loads sent for testing with NFF :y

...same as most Vauxhall engines.. ::)
-
it only had a gearbox and clutch fitted at 270,000, so its done fantastic to get that far without them!!
-
It shows testament to that engine :y :y
Mine's only done 91,000, i've only done 11,000 in three years of ownership. I wonder how many years it'll take me to get to 347,000 ::) ;D
-
Seen quite a few DTi Omegas with well over 250K on them, one went on Ebay with 478K recently.
-
This must be near me - tempting to go and have a look, wonder if I can find the address on Auto Trader...

iv a 89 w124 300d merc. 3.0 straight diesel, auto box, serviced every 3k miles from new, 1 owner from new, i got it off my uncle, we hyave added up theres roughly over 700k on this engine, has had 3 dash units so just adding up miles on them, engine had never been touched nor the auto box, although im stripping engine down now as signs of wear and tear have begun to show.
