It's 100 Miles from Bristol, so possibly London way?

EDIT:  35 miles from Newbury.

Get on AutoTrader, tap in your postcode and look for Omega's with over 3.0 engine.  It will tell you how far away each car in the search results is. :y

I also use Autoroute and the tools/measure distance tool to guage roughly gow far away the 'ping' was....

If you add enough 'pings' from known postcodes you can work out, quite closely, where the car is situated.....  ;)

Shame you cant enter several geographical points.

We now know it is 350miles from the bridge, 100 miles from BS30 and 21 miles from Slough.

With this information, it should pinpoint the actual location with quite an accurate result.

For the price, I'd have bought the car if it were about 50 mile away.  Anyone local will certainly make a profit just from breaking it.

I'm more than aware of that, but little cracks in the bumpers, dog-dirt engine etc etc..... simple to find out if it's local, waste of money if it's the other side of the country.

6 fully refurbed alloys
folder full of history, cam gaskets, cam belt, water pump all in date, abs ecu, arches repaired as preventative measure, serviced every 6k miles with fully synth,
new discs, pad AND calipers (exchange), painted at new to protect from rust.
built in towbar that hides away (you can't see it)

What other boring runabout could you get for £1400 I ask?

On the contrary!  This particular kit is (always to taste) but subtle and very VERY few cars had them.  Rocking horse poo costs a lot.

Please note I wasnt being derogatory to your purchase, I'm sure it is a good motor and a good price, but comparing yours to this car from a breaking point of view is not logical.

I know you're not being derogatory mate! :y

I know it's all down to taste, each to their own and all that, but is the irmscher kit really that sought after? Excuse my ignorance in this, but wouldn't have thought it would be such an issue on these cars. i would expect it to be more relevant on something like a Saxo (in a non judgemental way!)

If you were to buy that car this second, you could easily sell the kit and wheels for approx £2k on eBay.  You then have a fully functioning Omega to either put standard stuff on and use or sell, or, break the lot and make even more money.

So, yeah, it is very sought after.

I think that it's had a smack in the front, I can tell that from the pictures, look at the bonnet shut lines, the trim under the lights etc. Still if I go and look at it tomorrow, I'll go and rip it to bits and get some money off  :y

I too noticed.  O/S bonnet to wing is wide, N/S Headlamp to trim is wide.

I'm hoping that it's a kit fitted by someone who just has basic skills, hence the minor problems.

If you do go and see it, pay more attention to the kit and wheels themselves.  Any minor scuffs will severely affect the re-sale value.

Give me first shout on the wheels!  And bearing in mind I know what you paid for the entire car, I want severe discount on 'average' sale prices  ;D

If I do go and look, then I may sell it complete to be honest, shame to break a car, sort out the niggly bits, check cambelt history and get it gone, after all it's a 3.2 Elite so it's still worth a fair (although still low for the amount of car) whack. Although I may break and get more money.

It wont!

It will only tell you if the car was written off.  Any accident which is 'economic' to repair will not show.  This car could have had a severe shunt when it was 6 months old, but being an expensive car, the repair bill could have been 12 grand, and it would have been done.

So did you all figure out where it is yet?

With the Auto Trader iPhone app you can get a map that shows you the precise location ;) Sadly the search criteria can't be made as tight as the website so it took a couple of minutes searching..

Anyway it's in Colliers Wood, South London, apparently..

aye? i thought we where all up for buying it a minute ago?

do they not withdraw the number once sold? number being allocated specific to the seller? if the seller pays for the service of course?

how can it be a scam if they dont answer the phone?

The number isn't a telesafe number, so they haven't paid for that service, also, it's a well known thing in the trade they do this so you e-mail them, they then try all sorts of things. Had an extremely similar experience with a Range Rover. I was all up for buying it, was skeptical about the price though, skeptical about the front end not lining up correctly, there's a lot of things I was skeptical about, but never mentioned them. Never get excited about a car until youve actually paid for it  :y

I think the answer you might want is this http://www.gumtree.com/london/81/65749081.html it's in Colliers Wood but notice that the phone number ends 498 not 798 as on Autotrader, go go!

Right so far, front bumper needs painting, no service history at all. Asked about cambelt, he doesn't know.

If I can get there tomorrow, I'll go and rip it to bits, hopefully for a lot less than the £1750.

Sometimes I wish I'd been born with the haggling gene  :'(

Every time I buy a car it's the same deal..

Me: "I'll take it"
Seller: "Ok"

I seem to miss a few steps in there.. like knocking any money off!

Next time I buy a car can I hire you to go do the haggling?  ;D
