Title: WIM
Post by: Shackeng on 19 September 2010, 09:05:17
Had my geometry checked and realigned at Chesham on Friday. What a very impressive operation, with very knowledgeable guys doing the work. The OOF discount was well worth having, and the car feels much better, even though I had not noticed any real problems. It just handles better all round. It was well worth the visit, and I thoroughly recommend them. I got them to re-balance the front wheels also, as I had a slight vibration at 70 and was impressed that instead of the normal cone centre mounting on the balancer, they use stud mountings, as they note the the centre hole may be slightly off centre, and the wheel should be balanced as fitted to the car (Of course! duh) Very impressive. :y :y :y

5 stud balancer I think it's called???

Both my omegas where out of balance with an in balance cone balancer. 5 stud far more accurate, ESP for bigger size wheels. Neighbours BMW is useless on a cone balancer. :y

Probably is Chris, they have 4 -stud ones there as well. Interestingly, the fitter tells me that some makes now have no centre hole, only the stud holes, which would make for better balancing. :y

Ah, not all wheels are 5 stud.... :-[

My local tyre guy had a fitment that bolts on to his stock balancer, but only does 5 studs.  :-?

I did notice wim have a concetric type mechanism for different stud spacings, clever stuff.  :y
