Title: Sad weekend
Post by: venom on 01 October 2010, 22:02:21
Well last weekend saw the end of a large part of my life.

My mate has had to give up Drag racing this monster  :'(
as we were finding it hard to get in sponsors and this season was an expensive one at around £50,000

It will be like a bit of me is missing as we worked on it all year and raced it most of the year  :'( :'( :'(

What a shame, but look on the bright side, you now know where there's a nice V8 for your Omega  ;)

Nice dragster - how long did it have that livery for? I'm sure I saw it at Santa Pod once upon a time.

I bet the spark plugs don't last long even at that price either ;) One run?

It's been in these colours for 2 years & before that it was green.

Yep 1 run and we have 16, 2 per cylinder

Are the "Run What Ya Brung" days not an option or is it a case of having done the real thing nothing else is worth it?

These days are not for cars like this as they don't prep the track enough for this sort of power, plus also the reason we are stopping is it's now very expensive as this costs my mate £1500 a run but if we break anything it jumps to £10.000+ if your lucky

i was talking to a geezer who lives on site at santa pod who blew everything racing  and his engine was probably 50 grands worth not including anything else and tbh standing from the side you gotta think its not worth it  :-/. If you have a sponsor paying great but when the economy is heading for a nosedive and shelling out is crippling yer i'd say race a t+t'd doorslammer and have a bit of fun but save your wedge.

If we cant find sponsorship for next season (which looks unlikely) he is doing just that with an Chevy S10 Pro street.
Who was it you were talking to, was it Dave Bryant?
