Any idea on what the insurance would be for say a 17 year old on a Lexus IS200, my youngest (16) went out with my eldest and his mate earlier, he's got an IS200, how much could I find insurance for? Difficult I know.
-
Christ del, you got no hope mate , even down here in leafy Cornwall they wanted 2k+ for my 17 yr old in a 206 diesel :-X :-X :'(
-
My son just turned 17, third party only on a 2002 Citroen Saxo 1.1 basic is £860.00 :o

If it's 2000 ish roughly per year, he shouldn't be too bothered, he should be going to work at my eldests place, that'll get him around £1300 a month, but it's like I've said to him I'll buy the car, you do the rest, I've told him I highly doubt he'll get insured on one anyway.

That was through gocompare, and it comes up with some company I have never heard of for that much. Cheapest known company was Tesco's I think at about £1200.
We do have a reasonable post code when it comes to insurance, we are about 8 miles form the city center, and the undesirable type people seem to leave us alone :y

I used to pay £340 per month for 6 months on a 2.2 CDX (group 13) then after 6 months paid £120 per month with elephant.co.uk. No idea what group an IS200 is in, but I would imagine similiar...so it's do-able.
-
Forgot to mention that was two years ago when I was 18. I have trade insurance, but if I privately insured my 2.6 it's not that bad really.
-
IS200 is in group 12. If he can get this job, then I think he could be lucky. That's good to know actually Josh, his birthday isn't until May, but I'll probably find and buy one before then so he can have a play and get used to it etc.
-
i hope its either an S or an SE, i think the sport is a group 13 but companies are charging a fortune to insure them and the only difference is cosmetic!!

An S or an SE it'll be then :y

Also due to not being 18, most insurance companies wont let him pay monthly.
-
What happens if he adds his mum as a named driver? (not policy holder as most do) sounds funny I know but mine dropped £100
Even if I add my missus as a named driver, she hasnt even passed her test it dropped by £10! :)

I guess hes a short arse then

'cos there's damn all room in an IS-200.
That said, the only guy I know who drives one is 6'4". Don't know how he does it. I wouldn't fancy one at 6'0". :-/

I don't think he'll reach 6ft he's about 5'8" at the minute, probably end up about 5'10" by next year.

Yes, bugger all head room, my head touches the roof lining on them......deffo designed for our smaller Japanese cousins.
Tiny inside, not a bad 6 pot lump in them.

Find one and try it.
Also look at other owners and see how many have the seat leaning back a lot and not a better posture with a more upright back :y

Oh, I thought that was to fit in with the latest 'cool' look, have the seat as far back and as low as possible, somehow that looks good to the gangsters around Ashford ;D

i think you need to learn how to position the seat then!!
my brother had his IS200 for 3 years which i drove several times, he has an IS300 now, and neither of us, at 6' 4" have ever had room issues or comfort issues driving it

Quite the contary, you have to seriously compromise your driving positio and lean the seats back to fit.
There is dam all room in an IS200.....and thats a fact! :y

ive got an is200 sport great car and great engine and box combo but theres no room in the back and not much space in the front. id almost compare interior space with a 5 door astra g. lovgely car tho. very solid and gets lots of looks. very reliable
