Title: Facelift tyre pressures
Post by: Osprey on 27 September 2010, 15:45:21
Mods: consider adding to the existing FAQ tyre pressures thread (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1176583378)?

Only minor differences from pre-facelift but here are links into the relevant pages in the Owner's Manual:

Facelift saloon tyre pressures (http://images.omegaowners.com/documents/UserGuides/OmegaOct2002.pdf#page=229)

Facelift estate (and saloon spare wheel) tyre pressures (http://images.omegaowners.com/documents/UserGuides/OmegaOct2002.pdf#page=230)

maybe just add the info, and not a link to the near 4MB PDF file though?

What - do you want jam on it?   ;D

There are a few reasons why linking into the big PDF isn’t such a bad idea:

- The general software principle that if you keep two copies of the same information, somebody is bound to change one of them and not the other, causing confusion all round.

- The original is in table form and forum posts don’t support tables very well.

- Although I have separated off the two relevant pages from the PDF and they are only 47KB, I don’t have any way of uploading them to OOF.  But happy to do this if somebody can tell me how.  OK, I could convert to a JPEG and stick it on PhotoBucket but that’s hardly very permanent.

- If someone sues because they used duff information posted on OOF, it is better that it is Vauxhall’s own duff information rather than something we cooked up for ourselves.

- Because 4MB only takes a few seconds to download these days.

BUT if the powers that be prefer a home-brew copy, here it is in the next post:

not sure why for the 3.2 saloon with full load you take air out of rears and whack up the fronts!!

or am I misreading something?

So it is  :o

There is a typo in the original Vx Owner's Manual, and a potentially serious one as well.  I would imagine that spirited driving of a 3.2 five up and fully loaded with 30psi instead of 45 in the rears could be pretty dangerous, not to mention the rapid wear of the tyre edges.  New rear tyres paid for by Vauxhall, anyone?   ;)

The figure has been corrected in the manual that came with my car - the June 2001 edition.

Of course I didn't type all that stuff in - just copy and paste - so i picked up the cock up too.  Ho hum!
