Title: Rust treatment

My rear arch is going rusty and I want to treat and paint before the roads get salted.what's the best rust cure or converter?I know it's hard to rid of it but anyone got suggestions?? :y

The only real cure is to take it back to bare metal, removing ALL signs of tin worm, then fill where necessary, prime & paint.  :y

thats assuming its not rusting from the inside out, in which case its chop it out and weld new metal in, beit a new arch or rear wing.  :'(

For a paint on option the best to buy is 'Kurust' but it's bl00dy expensive. The cheap alternative is to head to your local farm supplies shop and get some 'Milk Stone Remover'. It's basically a very cheap descaler for milk tanks and has exactly the same effect on rust as 'Kurust' :y

Just done my 98 GLS,both sides including rear doors were starting to break out with the dreaded tinworm.Had to give them a good going over with a wire brush attachment and detail sander,then used Vactan which I got on Ebay to convert and seal the bare metal areas.They claim that there is'nt a need to prime the treated area but I went for the belt and braces route and primered also.Unfortunately I got carried away and both lower  sides of the car will have  to be repainted after the winter,also I cleaned the inner sides of the wheelarches and used a wax spray from Bilt Hamber which is Dynax S50 this seals and kills the rust and is far superior than Waxoyl it's claimed.Good luck.

useful, I have a friend who keeps milkers.

I'd recommend another product from these people called Deox Gel.  Excellent stuff that deals with rust, for me more effectively than Kurust/Jennolite. In fact their entire range is superb.

best way is get a arach repare panel cut and weld then respray

all other ways dont nomally last more that a couple of years if your lucky
paint dont worl well unless it just on the top as others saird arches normal rust from inside out
