So ...... the none runner TD Astra G off eBay was ticking away quite nicely sat on axle stands. My Astra shed sacrificed its fuel pump after it was economically written off in a skirmish with a city banker in a Vectra ::). So, as I was waiting for it warm up, I thought I'd clean up some of the rust from its front discs due to its 6 month lay up. As I was 'driving' it and dragging the brakes the ABS light has now come up, I assume it's due to confusing the ABS ECU by driving the front wheels with the rears stationary. I've tried moving the whole car, but I can only move it 5ft or 6 ft, and disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, but the ABS light is still on :(.
It might very well fix itself when driven, but due to a lack of MOT, tax or insurance I can't try it.
Any ideas?

Quite prone to front sensor failure on these, sensor is part of the hub assy.
If it shop around 'cause they aint cheap but are easy to fit, just three bolts and the shaft nut

Ta Andy. But all was OK when it first started, the ABS light only came up after the front wheels had been turning, it didn't show a speed, but I 'travelled' 0.3 miles :-/
I'll get my Cheapo Tech II on it tomorrow & see what it has to say. :y

When the Omega ABS got "confused" after some fun on grass, similar effect to what you did ..... it took about 1 mile of "normal" driving before the ABS light went out. No idea how similar the systems are ... but might be what's needed ?? :(

Ah! That's just the answer I was looking for! :y As said, it's nothing like legal yet for the road so can't test it on the road. But that does sound promising. I'm hoping there'll be something I can reset via the Cheapo Tech II :y :y :y

Sorted. Put the Cheapo Tech II on the car and eventually got it to talk to the car .... did it using year 2000. Got codes 0040 & 0161 ...... no idea what they are :-/ cleared code and the ABS light went off, not straight away but it went of in the end.
Another result for the Cheapo Tech II :y :y :y :y

Both those codes are O2 sensor codes - P0040 "O2 sensors swapped bank to bank" and P0161 is "O2 sensor low voltage" for one or the other sensor..

Not for the ABS, they have a seperate list of codes ;)

Thanks. I'll see what appens when it's running on the road. Front right side was without a wheel, so maybe it ran up faster than the nearside :-/ :-/ :-/
