That's about what Ipaid last year, it is the biggest panel on the car ;) I had the bonnet mounted screen washers filled in too though. :y

Get more quotes, really. No more than 150-180 tops, and many places a lot less. Try asking around who does all the insurance jobs for swankier cars in the area. Where I live there's a port close by, where many VAG / Toyota groups cars are imported. When the odd one is found to have a tiny mark / scratch, before being delivered, it goes to a bodyshop to have a PERFECT respray. And I mean perfect! They, therefore, did the job on my dads V6 a couple of years ago. And the price was reasonable, too.

Thats about right for a fgood job. Just picked up a Manta Front Bumper and three piece Tailgate spolier, re-painted in Astro Silver at £320.00 inc VAT
Couple of things to remember with paint work. Go to some who's work you can see and recomendation of there work
And you you do get what you pay for

Always gett mine done cash, helps a bit, not had a bonnet done yet though. :-/
Although I have had a body kit painted, front and rear bumpers, side skirts and mirror shrouds for £200 cash, which probably amounts to the same area?
So I guess there is scope to improve on that a bit? Although not sure I would want it done any cheeper for fear of a crap job :-/
And hasn't the enforced use of water based paints, or whatever it is, affected the price recently?

its acceptable only if they sand the old paint (not including the original base coat)
