Title: New Omega on the cards
Post by: v6man54deg              Geffd on 29 August 2006, 18:15:07
I was reading this months Autocar today and they had an artical on the Holden Commodore VE, it had a very good write up and they said that it is planned to come to Europe as the next generation Omega replacement.
It has two types of the High Feature V6 engine (the one that replaced our one  :-[) as used in the Saab and new Vectra and the V8 engine both Longitudinal RWD.
It is estimated to be selling for around £24k - so in a few years we might see some on here (I wonder what the common problems will be)

The same platform is going to be used for the american Camaro!

Talking of Holdens, my mate who is an MOT tester, rang me up the other day, and asked me to pop up to the workshop/ testing station !

He briefly said he was about to test the most mental car he had ever seen !

OK i got there and was confornted by this Holden, god knows what it was, but it had a V8 under the bonnet , and had some serious HP !
It was so funny watching my mate trying to drive in to the testing bay, it either stalled , or he lit the back tyres up !

Problem is by the time it arrives our wonderful New Labour Government will probably have taxed to death or outlawed completely any car with an engine bigger then 600cc. Unless of course you happen to be a Cabinet Minister where you must have it for Security reasons, and paid for completely at the public expence even if fuel is £14 a litre by then >:(

I always bought mine nearly-new, but if they have a new model out, I might be tempted to just walk into the showroom and... naaa, I'll wait 6 months for a second-hand one  :(

Thanks...  ;D

But from the brochures I saw at Delphi I thought this only applies to Vauxhall and Saab?
