Chris - can't agree with that at all - what is that car anyway? Does it belong to your hairdresser?
-
Of all the colour schemes for the vxr8 .. I think that white with black wheels is easily the worst ...makes the car look small and poncy IMHO.
much prefer this look...

Very nice Chris. Don't think I can afford the £435 a year RFL though :(
-
Wouldn't much care on the colour, but I suppose given the choice it would have to be black...
...these are old pics btw...

Although white is not my personal choice either, THAT is a Bathurst 500 my dear fellow. :-*

...with an asking price of 39k, down from almost 50, rfl is the least pf our worries ;)

Love the estate, hope they import it. [smiley=evil.gif]

Looks very much like a focus st from the front imho. :-X
-
Decisions, decisions... :-/
New Insignia Sri 4x4 Tourer diesel/petrol, or 2nd hand VXR8 in white with silver wheels and no stripes? Me thinks that rfl and insurance costs might be worth every penny. ::)
Agree that white isn't the best colour for either car, but must be white to be a taxi round here :(
Dark grey much preferred. 8-)
That one does look a bit poncy next to a mig, albeit a saloon. ;)
Before you say I'm mad,(which I might be :-/), a 3.2 mig bought outright costs 2p per mile more to run than a new mid range family diesel bought on the never never...something to think about carefully if thinking about changing. ;)
-
VXR8 Wagon..... Oooohhhh Yeah Baby!!!!!
I WANT ONE !!!!!!!!!!
quick get the arabs on the phone i have kids to sell !!!
-
sorry inwhite??? looks like something an asian tuner would step out of vxr8's are manly cars please stick to that theme!! ;D
-
wonder if the motor in that would fit the miggys engine bay ;D ;D

Probably. Doubt that the LS7 lump is a significantly different size to the lump in the Monaro, which is basically a 4 seat mig coupe....
If you relocate the air intake trunking, there looks to be enough room behind the radiator. :-/
I wonder if this might be what chris is plotting? ::)
(rueful stroking of chin follows) ;)
-
Personally I would take any VXR8 I could afford, I would not care what colour it is or what wheels it had. It would just be a very nice car to own.
-
Begs the question, how far to take the omega....floor pan? is it?....the basis for all these vx rear wheel drive cars, i think?
stick an ls v8 lump in an omega... could argue there are better chassis to fit such a beast into...buy a lesser Holdon model with a v8 as stock...buy a an older used vxr8....but i think its safe to say, Bathurst budget levels are a little out if reach :o
-
As i sit here, tv advertising megafactories on natgeo hd, weds at 9pm, premiers the Chevy camero...

The older Commodore chassis is a longer and wider version of the Omega
Chaeapest option? VT or VX/ VY HSV GTS then pop up to Linden Special Vehicles, Twin turbo conversion and say hello to 550bhp AT THE WHEELS!!!!!!! :D
-
the V-car chassis was used until the end of VX production (that's the model after mine). The VXR8 is an entirely new chassis.
LS7 is same engine as the other LS units and so will fit in Omega.
do I need to price up building a run of V8 Omegas then ?

I'd sooner be gay than start having to wear white socks to drive that vulgar thing and be called a virgin. Typical South Hemi motor, all Mr. Loudtrousers, no class at all. ;) ;D

Going back to the original post - the Bathurst and the Monaros just do nothing for me at all on the aesthetics of the car - the performance may be another thing but why put all that into a very ordinary almost Astra like shell. If anything the Insignia VXR is a better proposition and looks quite good.
As regards expensive cars in public car parks I see this everyday at Farnborough station and in the area I park are Maseratis, BMW 7s, brand new Porsche - and my 2001 Elite which sit there from 7am to 7pm. Why have all that money sat around waiting for doors to be opened onto cars such as these by all the others that do not give a damn.
-
different things for different people - that's just what appealed to me about the Holden, 400BHP, looks like a taxi !

There's a lot to be said for a sleeper. ;)
Too many over-styled cars with no go on the roads these days. ;D

maybe it is because I am too big to fit in these smaller than Omega cars [smiley=undecided.gif]

That's the problem with driving anything presentable. However little the money meant to me I'm not sure I could ever bring myself to park a car like that in public, or even spend that sort of money on a "mere" car in the first place. :(

Nooo! When you cease to "fit in" cars and start to "wear" them instead, is when they start to become fun. A Westfield is what you need. :y

The thing is I am 6ft 6 my son is 6ft 4 - he gets into an A5 no probs (see my post on A3 gearbox) - I cannot get in it and be comfortable. It has been said of other cars - are you getting out sir or are they dragging it off you?
It could not possibly be a width issue could it?

I tried to get into a 'widebody' Caterham at Anglesey .. I didn't even fit between the transmission tunnel and outside skin, let alone get my ass in the bucket seat :'( I are teh fat blank.
