Title: Cat D car and insurance?
Post by: MickAP on 05 November 2010, 21:35:29
Would a cat D car be difficult to insure?

Thinking of buying one, not Omega, which has had very little damage.

Apart from looking for obvious damage what should I be wary of re paperwork, insurance V5 etc.

My Rover 25 is a Cat D and i've never had trouble insuring it. Make sure you get the V5C and MOT ;)

Will I need a engineers/mechanics report, to insure?

No, if its a Cat D you'll be fine, if its a Cat C you may need a VIC check ;)

If it written off they may pay out less due to the Cat D marker.

I had a Cat "C" omega MV6 for a while that I repaired myself after buying from auction. Just had the VIC check and had no problem at all insuring it.
