I was sent a brochure today in the post on these.....
http://www.roadnetuk.com/snooper-sld950.php
Funny how that disclaimer at the bottom of the web page isnt in the brochure.....and the disclaimer is a bit vague really......
The brochure actually says if the unit detects laser......slow down to the legal limit...then turn the unit off!

These are not legal in the UK. Anything that interferes, blocks or scrambles a signal is illegal. Detection equipment is legal but not these AFAIK

There not legal it does`nt stop the money makers trying to sell them though >:(

need a police member to post comment really, but as mentioned. Detectors are legal, diffusers are illegal.
At least thats what i think!

Sometimes called 'garage door openers' as the technology is basically the same. Laser jammers like this are naughty and liable to get you nicked.
As regards standard radar detectors, herewith an interesting wee anomoly.....
Sale within the UK is legal. Use, however, is legal only in England and Wales (perhaps NI, but unsure) but not, as far as I am aware in Scotland.
It was unlawfull to purchase or use radar detectors for a lot of years throughout the UK but was subject to a stated case and appeal a few years ago within the English Magistrates Court and legal system. It resulted in the anomoly whereby their sale and use is OK 'daarn saarf' but sale only is legal up here, use is not - unless things have changed over the past months when I've been kinda out the loop.

Cant see what good the detectors are any way....most of the speed cameras around Nottingham now use induction sensors in the road so dont use microwave energy and by the time a detector has detected the laser beam....it must already be pointing at you so its to dam late!

Yup, that's what I found, and the ammount of false Radar alarms really gets on my norks too!! Believe it or not, I found having one in the car actually made me drive slower 'cos the s0dding thing kept beeping and chirping away to itself!!
And even having one in the car didn't stop me from getting booked either 'cos it turned out the laser/radar detector had gone on the blink at the time too and I didn't know I'd been busted till two weeks later!! ::)
Tell you what though, getting that ticket in the post after a fortnight really helped me avoid that accident I was going to have at the time!! I feel so safe now!!
Sarcastic? Me? Nooooooooooo!!!!

I personally think that the police like everywhere else has become to money/budget targeted. The morals of proper road discipline has gone out the window. Lane discipline and indication 2 basics of driving are almost non excitant now. The local boys and ladies in blue have had the nee nars taken off their local cars so that only the few traffic boys can scream to an incident
now knowing what drivers are like for looking in their mirrors at the best of times i can see a few reported crimes having a slower response time. the world has gone crazy

There are many claims about ways to evade speed cameras, spray stuff on the number plate so the flash reflects etc ect, apparantley the SPECS type found on motorway roadworks which compute your average speed can only read standard plates (in line numbers & letters) so if you got an Alfa with the square plate on the front peddle to the metal :y. this may not be true however so dont all go on ebay looking for Alfas for sale, & in any case travelling at speeds in excess of 120 MPH will only bring you...................home quicker ;)
