Title: Fuel transfer pump
Post by: Auto Addict on 19 November 2010, 12:25:43
Got me thinking, after my autobox oil change last weekend.

Anyone know of a reasonably priced, efficient fuel transfer pump, suitable for the job?

I made my own fuel transfer pump using an old red top petrol pump and nice long leads and long tubes. Whether it would do ATF I don't know.

Didn`t Machine Mart used to sell a giant "oil change" syringe affair?.....I wonder if; connected with a length of rubber hose terminated with a suitably bent, 8mm. dia. copper dip-pipe, it would work.

At last fluid-change, whilst the pans were off; I simply drilled through and TIG welded a nut (fine metric thread) to the centre of both pans and use a bolt and soft-copper washer as a drain plug......`well worth the effort and sooooooo-much less hassle! :y

We used a Machine Mart syringe, it was hard work.

Is it for fuel or ATF B?

Get a cheap "killaspray" type device (Aldi / Lidl have them very cheap every so often).

Remove the spray lance and replace with a bit of copper microbore tube bent into a hook at the end.

Fill with ATF, pump up, hook the tube over the filler/level plug and leave it to fill. :y
