I couldn't afford to run my miggy any more and had to sell. It was my fourth Omega. It was was one of the worse decisions I ever made. I'm currently trying to sell the hated (V) Ford Focus Ghia, to buy another Omega. I have never owned a diesel version, but I'm thinking that's what it will have to be, for cost running reasons. Gas would be great, but they are so rare on my limited budget. I'm thinking about a 2.5 Diesel Auto ????

The purchase budget is whatever I sell the hated Focus for, probably about £2,000 max. Insurance is not a problem, my mechanical knowledge is fair, especially on Omegas, so there is much I can do myself. The daily fuel costs are a problem, hence my diesel thoughts or gas, but all the gas vehicles I see are well out my price range.

Well, if you are thinking of the 2.5 Diesel, then you are looking at an earlier car. You could easily pick up a very nice example of a 3.0V6 and LPG it for £2k. :y

The odd gas one appears here occasionally ... or you could budget about £700 and DIY - with the help of OOFers - as quite a few have.
My 3.2 is running at 15.20 pence /mile on LPG while the calculated petrol cost would be 25.02 pence /mile ... a fuel saving of 9.83 pence/mile ... or 39.27% !!!!! Adds up very quickly .. :)

I would prefer newer, but Auto diesel is only on the older and gas newer is too expensive

From personal experience and what I have read on here from the numerous threads regarding economy, you wont really see much benefit from the 2.5 Diesel to a 3.0 Petrol if you want similar (but sensible) performance. The Diesel lump has to work much harder than the Petrol.... plus, the diesel wont pull anywhere near as hard when you need or want the power of the Petrol in those hot headed moments.
I personally wouldn't consider another 2.5 Diesel as the savings were negligible. :(

Theres an auto diesel estate, prefacelift, sitting at a local 'three pumps and 6 car' filling station near me for, I think, £1250 or thereby....

I also found good priced ones, but I need to sell the hated Focus first, but thanks anyway. When I sell it I will post my decided budget.

The ideal would be a V6 gas conversion. Maybe something will come up when I sell the hated Focus :)

That was what I was finding when I was looking for another Mig, decided to go for petrol with a view to fitting gas.... :y

If you really want an Omega, find one at a dealer, say a nice 2.6 and give them the Focus as a px. If it is clean and tidy they'll rip your arm off. Probably. :-/

All's fair in love/war/car sales. :P Was offered an 02 2.6 cdx saloon by my local dealer back in June. iirc were asking about £2600. Same dealer allowed a grand for a 300k 7 year old Superb that we should never have bought by accident. :-X
Cost to change £1600? :-/
All I'm suggesting is that it is any easy way to dispose of the Focus and buy a mig at the same time.
