Title: MOT fail
Post by: robg1984 on 23 November 2010, 18:16:01
hi everyone just got back from the mot station and she failed on the headlights and excessive play on the n/s & o/s front suspension balljoint!
Ive got a 98 elite and the headlight is a self adjusting issue with the adjuster motor at the back the rod has come disconnnect and needs lengthening as ive just fitted estate springs :-[ am just a bit confused as to the ball joint he did mention the wishbone could this be the cause any suggestions would be gratefully received

Ask them ;). Or jack it up and check for play

The is a ball joint on the wishbone.

Still completely stumped as to how a wishbone with less than 2k miles on it can fail!!! Im not angry, just confused, dont care even if it was a cheapy-cheap-cheap one it must last longer than that!

Have you looked up about possibility of the headlamp adjusters being brokk yet?

I guess a lot depends on how the wishbone was fitted.

I wouldnt expect longevity out the best wishbone in the world fitted badly, and torqued with the wrong procedure.
