Is HC of 291 good, bad or indifferent?
::) ::)
-
looking at my last MOT emissions sheet, it says max limit 200, actual value 42. :( It doesn't look good :-/
-
My last MOT recorded 20...
-
291 wow :o
-
Are you sure there isn't a decimal point missing TB? :o or is this a reading you've taken yourself? :-/
-
hope Kevs garage is free...?

Thats a seperate project :-X

whack some forte in it and give it a thrash, see if it comes down below 200 :o

Is this the Silver Bullet? If so, present it on LPG (and tell them so!) and it's just a basic emissions test :y :y
-
Nothing to worry about. My last test was 419. :y
Oops! That was the wrong car. That's for a tuned Zetec with a home-made injection system and nothing in the exhaust but a perforated pipe surrounded by some sound deadening material. ;D

Hmmm, can you see my 'friendly' MOT tester letting that go come MOT time in Feb? ;D ;D :'(

ISTR mine was around that figure last at last year's test... But CO is zero ;)

Yes... Present it running on LPG and tell him so... He has to do a LPG emissions test (BET) which that will pass :y :y

Good point. :y And you can change the fuel type to LPG with the DVLA so it'll all be set up for that when he dials up using his sh1te siemens PC and modem. ;)

Speaking of.. What is the deal with the emissions test for a kit car? Clearly you can't exactly test it 'per the book' since it isn't in the book, so do you get an engine-age related test, or the non-CAT test?
-
Not sure now but used to be a non cat test.

I think I need to get down a DVLA Office. *sigh*. Northampton nearest, that means taking a day off :(

It impacts tax disc, so you have to send that off.

I had to return my old disc AFTER they sent me the new "dual fuel" one .... :)

Guess I'll be on the blower tomorrow....

Guess I'll be on the blower tomorrow....
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/ChangesToYourRegistrationCertificate/DG_4022054
..........
How to tell DVLA about the changes
Using your registration certificate you’ll need to:
* notify any changes or corrections by completing section seven
* sign and date the declaration box
For changes not listed in section seven you'll need to underline the vehicle details in section four, writing the new information next to them. You must also produce documentary evidence with a covering letter explaining the changes.
If the changes don’t affect your vehicle tax, then send the registration certificate and any additional documentation to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BA.
If the changes affect the amount of vehicle tax you pay, you’ll need to apply to your nearest DVLA local office to:
* apply for an exchange licence if your tax disc shows the old details
* retax your vehicle if the vehicle tax has expired
In both cases, you’ll need to include the registration certificate and any additional documentation with your application.

that implies I have to go to local office?

Don't bother phoning. All lines lead to some bint in Swansea who's a useful as a used condom... You get the picture.
Turn up with the docs, or get the form from the Post Office and send it in.

You have to prove the age of the engine. If it predates August 1995, Non-cat limits apply (3.5% CO, 1200 HC). After that it gets a BET (0.3% and 200HC..?). Technically if it gets a Q plate or is "Amateur built" it's visible smoke only though, although they are getting clever and logging emissions limits with the registration so they pop up during MOT.
So, IVA it with an old nail of a 1994 engine, then do what you want after that. :y

Ahh that's good to know :) (For the day I finally get around to building one!)

Initial checks after reseting the BLMs are looking promising :)
Additionally (though only done 120ish miles since reset), a tiny, but measurable improvement in economy going by the fuel computer - wouldn't expect big things, as it was only the idle BLMs that were screwed (both banks).

I ran out of LPG today, and have been driving spiritedly this evening, in very low air temperatures. All the while I've been saying that LPG makes no noticeable difference to performance.. I've been lying. ;D
Problem is, I need to fill up the LPG tank because I'm burning petrol like it's going out of fashion. ;D

I frequently run out. Can't say I massively noticed LPG v petrol performance differences :-/
-
Can't say I notice any difference in performance TBH ::)
-
Maybe mine needs a tweak. It's noticeably quicker on Morrisons petrol that's been in the tank since about September. ::)
