Very considerate, thanks. Don't even know who to PM about it.
Your member's loss for some cheap parts, car will be scrapped with many good parts now. Definitely not for sale to anyone on here (just so you don't think it's a for sale thread..... again)
-
Read the Forum rules and then you may understand! ::) ::)
"Posting in For Sale sections
Absolutely no links to your Ebay auctions, or Ebay auction numbers, or links to other places where it is advertised.
No posting for sale items in the 'wrong' areas to get around the postcount limits.
Currently you need to be an Intermediate Member (over 250 posts) to advertise your car or parts.
If you are a buyer, please ensure you are happy and confident with the seller before parting with money.
Sellers must provide an approximate price in their description. This is NOT an auction site, and certainly not a blind bid selling arena.
The For Sale sections are simply for that purpose. Confine posts in the thread to relevant and pertinant comments, please, such as to confirm mileage, trim, history and the like.
If you have a comment to make such as I would have bought it if it was blue/an estate/manual/satnav/friday/whatever, then do so by PM, NOT on the thread.
If you think the for sale ad is worthy of further discussion with the forum as a whole (if its a hound of a car or something very rare you want to share) then treat the sales thread like an E-Bay ad, Dealer add or a post it note in the local newsagents - give a discussion link in the general discussion area and DO NOT add such discussion to the sales thread itself. If the seller cannot or will not give a good description of their product, its their loss..... "
Do not start ranting before you know the truth :( :(

If you read the rules, you'll know exactly who to PM: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?virboard=Newbies;num=1209458172
-
.. of course you could try PMing the admin you PM'ed to ask if it was OK to advertise the car before you went ahead against his advice. ;)
As has been said time and again, we have a post count limit for advertising on this site, and we don't allow it to be circumvented.

I didn't delete the thread in question but would have, had I seen it.
The part of the guidelines that has been quoted - If you think the for sale ad is worthy of further discussion with the forum as a whole (if its a hound of a car or something very rare you want to share) then treat the sales thread like an E-Bay ad, Dealer add or a post it note in the local newsagents - give a discussion link in the general discussion area and DO NOT add such discussion to the sales thread itself. If the seller cannot or will not give a good description of their product, its their loss..... " - seems particularly apt. ;)
-
.... and as for deleting posts without notification? Bet thats not unique to here and happens on other fora such as yours, if its something thats been repeated time and time again and its reached the stage where the mods simply bin it without a second thought. :-/

On reflection, the above might have been a case of mistaken identity, in which case, I apologise. :-[

It was the same car though, at least the other member had the courtesy of asking first.
-
It was phrased as a question, that was me asking...
I'd alway PM someone to explain why the post was deleted, it's extremely rude not to. We also bend the rules if our members benefit from it.

We don't bend rules. It simply isn't worth it. If we bend the rules for one, we have to bend for everyone, then they become pointless. The rules are simply there to provide some level of protection for our members.
It possibly is a bit rude to not PM to explain why a post was deleted, though I would counter that with saying its rude to blatantly think the rules are somehow different for some people.
It is such a clear cut breach of the rules, it would simply get deleted. Our moderation team is too busy to have to explain something which is absolutely, 100%, clear cut, then get into a long drawn out debate as to why that member thinks the rules should be bent for them.
The For Sale sections are there as a courtesy to our loyal members, and not as a free classifieds section for the entire Internet to sell their wares.
-
If the rules started getting bent then there'd be no rules...
[Al Murray mode on]
Then where would we be?
.... France
[Al Murray mode off]
::) ::) :D :D :D

I deleted it, and have also just reread it.
No way was that a 'what if', it was a definite ad, with link to sales on another site.
Blatant rule breaking like that, (and you did know you were breaking rules,) will always be deleted, and normally without explanation.
Interesting to note another 'owner' of apparently the same car had a similar private request denied by admin, making it look like a complete rule circumvention. (yes we do talk :y and share info)

(yes we do talk :y and share info)
I should hope so too. :P

C'mon vexorg, play nicely. ;) ;) If you stick around you'll find that we are a good bunch to be friends with, just don't try to rock the boat. :y :y :y

Vexorg.
This is your final warning. I am hovering over the BAN button.
1 request denied.
1 advert deleted
1 signature of the same removed.
There are no more chances. Any further hint of an advert to that car and you WILL be banned. >:(
-
tsk. There's always one isn't there? And by the looks of it a mod on another forum too? Typical really, has a little bit of power on a backwater of a forum somewhere and thinks he can throw his weight other boards. Grow up.
-
i saw the
advert post before it was deleted, you even linked to the calibra site rather than bothering to make a custom one here listing the parts.
Rules are rules, there have been too many incidents of people paying money and not getting parts.
Limit is there it protect the seller, buyer and OOF.
-
Ban me, don't ban me, couldn't care less. I thought I was being nice, we're all getting to that stage were parts are listed as 'NLS'. You'll find it will becomes a problem even for cars that are less desirable 8-)
Parts were going for pretty much scrap value, your loss :D

I really don't think there is a need to drag this up again. Locking
