last time, Mark kindly offered to have a look at the head and see if he could sort it for me. However I reconed he would be busy with the new job etc, and it wasn't fair to dump it on him. So I put an ad on 247spares.com. One reply came back quickly for £100 delivered. However when I phoned him it transpired he had misread the ad and thought I wanted a V6 head. The next one wanted £150, but it was "a good one", and would be delivered in 2 days, eg thurs. This would be great, I would have the weekend to get it all sorted and running. However Thurs came and went, Fri came and went, I called up to find out it had only been collected on Thurs, so no chance of getting it for the weekend. :'( so frantic trying to organise transport to work for this week.
It arrived on Monday, well, it did, but no one was in so they left a card. Never mind my emailing them earlier on to give instructions just to leave it behind the bins. However my wife is made of strong stuff and she went and picked it up for me.

Looks basically OK, very black, it looks as if the car has been running very rich.

I didn't think this could happen with all the electronic wizardry running things.
I got them to include the cams, followers etc, I wasn't sure if cam shells would wear differently with different cams, so best to keep the original cam mated with its bearing shells.
What do you recon ?. A quick cleanup of the carbon and then fit, or should I go further ?.

I dont like the look of those inlet valves, plus new stem seals would be a good idea.
My offer is still open by the way

It's out of the car. No excuse for not giving it a full clean to be honest.
Loads of spirit and loads of rag.
At least it's something you can do in the warmth of your home :y

might be wise to get it pressure tested, and blast some air through those waterways etc, look a little choked up in the pics, deffo cleanup of valves. for peace of mind and if it was me Id change the valve seals, sho knows what nick they are in.

I agree plus get the head professionally skimed just to eliminate any slight warping, its a good practice safe guard :y
