I got the head back on last night and she started up OK. There were a few squeeks so I didn't chance the M62 today, but after checking tonight, all looks fine.
I was wrorg about the belt being the wrong size, just shows what tiredness can do I guess. Mind you I initially didn't have the new water pump far enough round, so the belt was still slack despite the adjuster being on full travel, a bit worrying :o
Hopefully another 40K miles without needing anymore gaskets and head bolts ;D

I got the original head redone with 4 new valves, at a place called Drakes in Bradford. They were very helpful, offer all sorts of services, reasonably priced and were very prompt.

Its easy to get to the HBV connections without the cam covers in place. Last time I left it until the cams and covers were back on and was fiddling about with mirrors etc for ages.

Doesn't look too bad with a layer of carbon off.
Its surprising how much cleaner my head is as I've been on LPG for a while.
And talking about LPG, I have had a problem not getting enough power out of my installation. I tried the usual suspects, new filter, new DIS, new regulator, no difference. I ended up turning up the regulator to 1.2Bar; it was better but it still wasn't right.
However when the inlet manifold was off , I took a lookat the nozzles and ...

I might have found the reason why :y :y :y :y
The old ones are well blocked with black c**p. Hopefully the new ones I fitted are a bit better.
I have been driving an 03 Corsa for the last couple of weeks. Tonight I got the Omega all legal and went for a drive for the first time for about a month. So smooth, quiet, effortless crusin' :y :y :y
That's why we drive Omega's
