Title: Is my car chipped? Part One
Post by: Varche on 22 December 2010, 16:38:26
OMG the excitement of it all. Having struggled around in a sick 2.5 for years, I now have the luxury of a smooth, powerful and responsive 3.0 with slick auto.

Now I find tucked away in the car a spare Chip and a sheet from a tuning company.

Now the question is this. Is the car running with the Chip or have I got it here in front of me? The rest of the sheet shows fitting instructions. including
 10. "Start the engine and drive in a "sportsy" way for about 10 miles your ECU needs this time and driving to relearn the remapped software."

the ID on the chip is 037 355721 and some really small writing Made in Singapore.

I am so excited, I may have to lie down in a dark room for a while..............

Can you not get a bigger photo of the Chip? Sounds like its already fitted though?

In my experience, the original chip from the ecu had the chip number etc. printed on the chip itself and the upgrade chip had the info printed on a label stuck onto the chip.

had your pick on big screen (52inch), but looks standard chip (clip in type), old ecu's like mine take them chips, but its not worth the hassle. just the same as if you just give engine a good clean out. and have a good run out on the road for a few hours.

Well have had a good nights sleep.

I agree that the chip in the glove box looks standard so have been out all morning with a stop watch. Best time for 0 to 60 was 8.4 sec. Top speed on (my private test track) was 239.(Edit just for clarification this is for Km's)

Where the hell is Bobdent or Fast Fred when you need a race?

I think for part two, I will remove the chip and have a Dutch auction for it (complete with fitting instructions of course). Starting price £200 dropping by £5 every five mins until some lucky person buys it. It could be you Chrisgixer!!

Got to go and have another lay down in a darkened room now. :y
