Bad hill just before where I live.
2 Soft roaders no issue
1 soft roader with one poorly Omega OK
1 FWD VW people carrier OK
1 small FWD hatch - fail
1 Omega with a lot in the boot - big fail including popping an LPG T piece due to high engine temperatures.
-
No problems here or on my daily commute yet, plenty of opposite lock required though when driving up hill wagging the tail or playing on the corners! ;D

Crap in the snow

There's a simple solution to that happening again...........
shoot the cat ;D

Apart from an incident in our road where I had to rock the car, the Omega has, as always, been flawless. Occasionally we have a bit of a tail wag, sometimes unexpected, sometimes provoked ::)
-
Provoked or unprovoked it still makes you grin when you realise how well balanced an Omega is. ;D

Too much accelerator, me thinks....

Me no understandie... ...thats an alien concept ;D
If Martin Imber is boiling up enough to pop pipes, there is a bigger underlying issue - you'd have to be giving it some severe large for a while to negate the effect of the fans in this weather.

Agreed. In addition, you can rev the nads off the engine all you like but, if it's not going anywhere, the engine is clearly under very little load so won't produce much heat, and the water pump will be going 19 to the dozen so no lack of cooling.
Have to say it points to something other than overheating.

Surely if the engine is "revving it's nads off" and the car is standing still then a lot of heat is going to be produced?
Consider the fact that if the engine is reving at 5,000 rpm the car should be doing over 100 m.p.h. thats a lot of wind chill factor you are loosing out on.
-
It didn't hit red while driving - only hit red as the sensor got flooded with coolant which shorted it.
Wear and tear I think killed the T piece.
That hill was impassible today by anything

Nope, as its not having to deal with air resistance, there isn't that much heat (relatively speaking) with it simply revving the nuts off it.
-
ahh but heat melts the snow ::)

Yes, but if the car's not doing 100 mph the engine is not generating the power required to overcome air resistance and tyre friction, for example. Heat output of an engine is pretty much proportional to power output. It'll generate more heat than at idle because there are more friction losses at high revs but it'll be easily dissipated by the cooling fans, especially if the air temperature is as cold as it currently is. ;)

Do you use to use snow tires in UK or is it very rare?
-
Well I thought I was going to be spending the night in the office, but fair play, the Omega was again flawless

They are used here Maurizio, not rare. :y
