As per the title, I'm going to look at ine in a few days time, what should I be looking for engine wise? Im not used to the oil burners! Must be getting old! LOL

poor starting when hot 7/8 churns before firing, also missfire when hot, fuel pump seals apparently and as its a bmw part £1200 is the norm, seen good re-con pumps on e-bay though for £299 if an issue, cracking engine though,mini-cabbed in one it was still sweet as a nut at 230,000,good luck with your hunt!!

Doubt the hot start issue will show in the current climate, normally a summer issue... There is a relay modification that costs about 30 quid that sorts it anyway... Make sure the engine is cold though to check for cold starts....

As with all cars check out it's previous life as much as you can. Especially the previous service history on this engine, regular oil changes are important. And the TD owners on this site will tell you changes at least every 4k. Check it also gets up to temp ok and not too high, and has it had any work done to the cooling system recently. Water pumps can fail suddenly causing overheating pretty rapidly, which can wreck the engine. If no history on this then get it done asap if you intend buying the car, then you know it's been done. All the rest of car is basic Omega stuff.
