hi guys well as some of you may have known , i was selling my bmw touring
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v490/palmer3914/2007_0601Image0076.jpg)
to get an omega estate to pull the omega track car........., ideally i was after an ex cop estate and would then try and get the same steinmetz wheels for it.... simply as i thought it would look cool :'(
mrs said yes thats fine as long as its a car that has 4 doors and a big boot....... OMEGA perfect!!!!!... then she adds it must be economical!!!!! :o
a 3.0 MV6 estate economical!!!!! i dont think so ....... so after convincing her a 3.2 MV6 cop was the way to go!!! ;D and was better on fuel :-?........... i set out today to drive up to london to view 1!!!!
white, 03 plate 3.2 Mv6 - 142k £2100 ---- a steal!!! .......
drove all the way up, when i arrived guy came out said what am i after i said the white omega..... he reply'd "what that 1 i just sold to that guy" >:(............ your having a laugh!!! no he wasn't!!! :'(
so off i drove again not happy..... untill i stopped to get a coffee .. where accross the road i spotted something!!!!!
i wish i hadn't........... what i saw i bought ....... in a moment of utter madness!!!!!!!!!!...
So before i show a pic and say what it is...... remember the wife........

big boot.......check

Nice cars...assuming it is a 1998. :)
Very fast cruiser with a nice sound from that V8.
Depreciation on them is akin to an Omega, though I recall they were something like 60k new!
Fuel economy though!! :o :o
-
COnvert it to gas 8-)
-
bit more than £2100 yes??
-
bit more than £2100 yes??
I was scared to ask :o
-
its a 99 T plate 81K miles ............ original bill of sale says £82899 :o
was up for £9995 .......... But got a fair bit taken off :y
still not enough to make it 2100 though.......
my father inlaw asked "thats nice boy, what is it 2.5 or 2.8..........." when i reply'd eeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 5.4 !!! he nearly passed out!!!! ;D
ah well ..... got to get a fold away tow bar fitted now :'( thats another £400!!!!!!!!!!
-
at least it wont have any problem pulling the omega!!!! ha ha ha
at about 10mpg :'(
-
I am REALLY...I mean REALLY.....jealous :(
-
Why brother was given one for a few weeks when his company were trying to sort out some of the issues with the sequential gearbox before it was released...
-
Why not strip it out and convert it to a track car instead :-X Scared eh ;D
-
With fuel so cheap in this country you will hardly notice the difference ::)

Fear is knowing you have to explain to the missus how you went out to buy a relatively sensible car for £2,100 and instead bought a ferociously fast car and not sensible by any stretch of the imagination for "quite a lot" more! ;)
Oh and then you have to mention it requires a special towbar that will cost £400!
Afterthought.... please tell me it has the normal gearbox. That sequential thing was the stuff of nightmares!

;D ;D ;D - Classic :y
It does look nice, and unless you have a keen eye most will fail to spot its an AMG ;) - I like that, wolf in a sheep :D
-
should have some shocking performance figures aswell :y (without trailer!)
-
yeah normal 5sp auto... not tip-tronic......... :y
i think il simply never answer her questions ..... best way out of it... she might find it a bit suspect when we are out in it and..... i keep saying "ok luv, just got to get some petrol".................. AGAIN!!!!
oh yeah fuel being only £1 a litre ..... great choice!!!!!!! :y :-[
performace wise..... i mean its rapid yes but....... in a smooth sort of lazy way.........
performace ..... limited to 155mph - de-limited 182mph......... so i better get it de-limited!!! ;D
0-100... 12.6seconds.......
another thing i have found out........ AFTER....... buying it.......
brake pads .... £100 fronts , £80 rear EBC............ :y
front discs ..... AMG merc only ...2 piece 330mm rotors ..... £150+_vat EACH!!!!!! :'(
Front shocks ...... wait for it!!!!!!....... £358+VAT each!!!!!!!!
rears ..... £90???? how the HELL does that work!!!!!!!
so basically if the shocks go.. its cheaper to ket a complet new suspension kit like koni's.....!!!! ouch!!!!
so many things couls go wrong!!!!!! its even got bloody electric head rests............. :o i mean what the hell is the point of that!!!!! ha ha ha
none the less a lovely car............
haven't picked it up yet.... hopefully pick it up mid week!!! :y
-
for less than £10k you done good!!
is it keeping the private plate on or is the seller gonna retain it?

:DSet off to buy a 2grand car, come back with a 10grand car.
Happens to me all the time! I understand so i'm sure she will!!! ::)
P.S. Gizza go!!! :y
-
I think LB66 might be referring to a gearbox that merc used.....sorta a clutchless manual but also did have a 'D' position as well if you couldnt be bothered.
Tiptronic boxes were different type of box :y
My C class had a tiptronic box in it and never a prob :y
Also had electric headrests.....they didnt go wrong either :y
Nice merc :y tho not my cuppa tea......only coz its a saloon ;D
-
That E-Class is the last good Mercs before they had issues, i think the early new shapes were no way near as good in terms of build. Think its been fixed now though :)
I saw TD's Merc in the flex, was in showroom condition, amazing considering it was a taxi and had the same millage as the starship enterprise.
As long as you use it on long runs only, should be good :y - Bet with a trailer on, you will not even notice pulling an Omega! ;D
-
na car had the T plate back on it, but i got my plate to put on it anyway...
-
A good friend of mine has got a tweaked E55. Recently returning from France, he got 201mph out of it (showing on GPS) - well off the clock.
I wasn't with him, but I can vouch that it is a scarily fast car for not scarey money. I'll own one when I'm rich.
As for the cost of running one...he paid £500 for an air-con condenser fitted last year. More money that sense [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
-
your mates e55 must be the newer e55k its got 100bhp more than mine....... but apparently de-restricted from 155mph mine will do 186mph????.. i wouldn't know officer :-[ :P
-
Nope. Same as yours, but in black. I will find out what he has done to it.
