if there's driveways across from where you're parked, check the cars for damage

my mate had a corsa  parked in the street which was written off by a stupid cow reversing out of her drive, she left a piece of her car in the road, and when she came back, he matched the piece to her car and robbed her of her no-claims :y

if you want to keep the car DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE IT TO THE GARAGE!!!!,
thats a definite write off insurance wise, theywill just tell you its beyond economical repair and offer you a silly amount, by far thebest way is to replace the light cluster so the car is road worthy, then take it to your favourite repairers to get a quote, insurance will tell you a list of thier approverd repairers but can tell you they will say the same!!,
as said if you want to keep the car and repair it yourself or by a trusted bodyman, do not alow them to get ther hands on it!!
with the figure for it finally agreed between you and your insurance company you should b able to repair it very well and painted, will need a vic check afterwards, your choice which way you go but if the insurance people pick it up you will never see it again!!

Bad news Col and after all the work you've had done on it as well :( If they do write it off you can always buy it back and repair it yourself, i'm sure Andy would do a good job on it ;)

Indeed :( Had the same thing happen to my dads Cavalier. Looking at the damage though it must have been quite a bang.

Sorry to go of topic slightly, thought the rules had been changed on buying cars back form the insurance companies now?  Had heard that only a couple of companies will let you have them back at a push??

It's not theirs to "let you have back" until you've accepted their settlement, surely?

Exactly, which, it seems, people forget when insurance companies write off their car.
