..... i was told never to touch it cos it can really mess the mig up lol
discuss ;D
-
used it lots in the snow no probs with car at the mo ;D
-
Eh? Mine was on frequently before Christmas... ...when she was in the car anyway ;D
-
every time I start the car on snow or ice! (or mud in a mates field)
starts its off in 3rd for nice gentle traction, worked a charm
-
someone ages ago on here said it shouldnt be touched ?? :-[
what does it actually do?
-
Same as jimbob above - i found it very useful with the recent snowfall.

It makes the gearbox lock in 3rd gear, so better traction on slippery surfaces.
It will disengage at 45mph.
-
Whoever said it shouldnt be touched is- at best wrong, at worst a twerp! Someone designed the gearbox winter mode, and put an on/off button on it. Chances are it's meant to be used!
Snow mode very useful, practically a lifesaver!
-
I was using that recently.Shame that its not making big difference ;).Especially when you trying to drive up the hill on heavy snow.
-
Used mine a lot, and it works perfectly! :y :y
-
Couldn't have done without it on quite a few occassions! ;D :y
-
Used mine frequently in the recent snow, find it very useful. It wont guarantee getting you to the top of a hill, if you havent approached the bottom of the hill with enough momentum. ;)
We had this discussion recently, but personally I prefer to have the TC switched off when going uphill in the snow.
-
What did you think might happen if you pressed it? ;) As said it just sets the car off in 3rd, as it will in any other Vx auto.
re not getting up an icy hill. It only controls the gearbox, it can't give any more grip between tyre & road. :-? :-? :-? I never attempt to drive up the hill I live at the top of in my Omega when it's icy. That's what the Astra is for. :y :y

Mine doesn't work :o :o
Oh yeah mine's a manual so i had to move the gearstick ::) ::) ::)
lol lol
;D
-
Dont know what I'd have done with out it last month :y
-
I use it quite frequently all year round. Busy Car Parks where you want better 0-10mph control is an example.
I do wonder if the extra strain on the torque converter will eventually 'hurt' but I guess it should be more than adequate to deal with it.

Snow Button + Winter Tyres + Steady right foot = very little agro in the snow :y :y
