Title: jaguar xk xj
Post by: tidla on 28 January 2011, 22:36:39
got to go for a spin in a xk the other day.loads of awards and stuff.

not totally sold myself as the rear passenger window over hangs the door handle and smacks you in the gut.

leg room nowhere as big as i presumed.

Isn't that top one an XF? Anyway I'm not really sold on Jags to be honest other than the previous 2003-2010 XJ. The S-Type I had, nice car, but horrible inside, cramped, narrow, good steering wheel though (moved getting in & out). New XJ look lovely at the front, but I think it's a bit of a minger at the back, would've looked better number plate on the boot I think. The XJR I had was lovely, but fuel was pathetic  :o

Jaguars have always had a rear quarter light like that. It's part of their design.

Not sure if the second pic in the above post is a Mk.10 or a 420G - they're very difficult to tell apart visually.
Anyhow, I once owned a 420G - it was a brilliant car. Was a horrible shade of green, but it was also a rare manual box version. The guy I bought it from thought the engine was dead, so I only paid £170 for it! (approx 1983, before the classics market went stupid). Replaced all the electrics and re-set the timing, and bingo! Ran like a dream....
Would love another one, but can't afford the money they now command just to keep one as a 'toy'...

Isn't there a law that says all Jags should just have two pedals?  ;)  ;)  ;) (and leather)  :y
