Hi
My missus is on her 2nd one she loves em!!
Can be thirsty but hey ho its all part of the fun...
Look out for the body mounts and inner front arches and also underneath can be prone to the rust!!

The 3.5 V6 does about the same to the gallon as the 2.8 diesel.
Unbelievably little ;D ;D

2.5td slow to get going but once it gets into top gear at 45mph it goes well enough!!
Besides the mrs says cars may go faster but she can go where they cant!!

Hmm if you can avoid the 2.8 diesel, apart from being thirsty they suffer pump problems, and a few other problems, mainly bottom end wear, 2.5 as stated a little slow to start with but a much more developed engine

With 2.5, 2.8 and V6 Paj's you have to remember they can be around 15 to 20 years old with little or no service history. Not that SH makes a jot of difference at that age. But they ageing....
They are very agricultural mechanically, therefore very simple to maintain. They appreciate regular servicing and greasing.
As a everyday family car they cost a fair bit to run. I was clearing £100 a week in diesel in 2008. Made my eyes water.....
But as an occasional car (fishing etc) for going off road they are pretty damn good, unbreakable things.
The older models are built on a ladder chassis and the newer ones (GDi) are monocoque bodies. The older ones fair better off road.
The 2.5 and V6 have cam belts.
The 2.8 has a cam chain.
The 2.8 suffers from pump seal failure.
They all are temperamental when it comes to cooling the head. Head gasket failure and cracked head is possible but not too common.
