Title: Cortina fettling today.
Post by: Amigo on 30 January 2011, 22:29:16
Took the Cortina to a mate of mine Mick as it's always had a flat spot when you initially accelerate then clears & runs fine. He fitted new electronic ignition, re timed it up, went over the whole car, gave me a new dizzy cap, 3 fanbelts, an old RAC badge to match the AA one (must fit badge bar soon), a few other odds & sods & asked me for £45! I gave him £50. I was in my element. The Cortina was in good company...Woslely 16/60 farina, Humber Hawk, 3 Bedford trucks which i've driven at shows & consider one of them mine (even Mick refers to it as "your one"!!! all painted up & signwritten, a fire engine, an Austin A60 van & an old tractor.
I love this time of year, getting ready for the meets, rallies & runs. Soon be time to give the caravan a once over & freshen up. Sorry for the waffle but put me around old cars & trucks & i'm like a kid in a sweet shop!!!!! :)

A man after my own heart Guy! :y

Take a look at the event that I'm involved with: http://www.wellandsteamrally.co.uk/

Plenty to interest you here - pretty well 200 entries in most sections.
And this year, I'm a steward in the Historic Commercials section too!
 :D :D :D :y :y :y

Seen the link before & looks good. Doubt i'll ever get there though. July already has the Lakesmeet & Fir Park before i've even seen this years list! Same as you i know the organizers/ambulance & security staff. I get to park with them (better facilties) & the caravan is turned into the day & night drunk catering division! I love every minute though.
Happy showtime. Look forward to posting piccies & seeing yours, Guy. :y

'Promotion' Jon????? :D

The Section Organiser is really 'pushed' presently, and it was felt that my knowledge would be far better utilized assisting with the Historic Commercials - and it's a section 'that's close to my heart' shall we say!
 ;D
I'm looking forward to this role, and my new 'boss' there's a super chap.
Have already booked some annual leave at work, so it looks like another week for us in the shadow of the beautiful Malvern Hills!

sounds to me more like an accelerator pump fault on the carb?

unfortunatly she was the reason i had to sell it when we split had to buy her half of the house!!!
good old motor 152 ELD wonder where it is now?

Ok, bad example there with the picture in an American corn field.

This should get Guy all excited:
