i thought all 3.2 elites had leather as standard
did i think wrong :question
-
I believe leather was standard and cloth was a factory fit option whereas now, its generally the other way about....
-
hmmm so somebody ordered an elite estate and asked for cloth :-?
saw this on fleabay low mileage as well

I actually really, really like Elite cloth, its better than normal spec, its more supportive somehow.
TB's tractor had it and JoshW's Elite, given the option i'd have that over leather personally.
-
I got one of both. I agree the velour is far better than the leather. The heating elements don't seem to break as easily on the vel;our either.
looks as though the one with leather will be our main car. I am not looking forward to the summer heat here and leather!! As the heated seats don't work passengers have to use a blanket to insulate them from the cold of the seat. No such probs with velour.
-
Elite cloth I find to be much, much, much nicer than Elite leather.
Forgeting its comfort factor, its cool in summer, and warm in winter.
3.0 and 3.2 Elites had leather as standard, with cloth being a no cost option.

Additionally, if you have pets, cloth is essential

I don't think my Gerbil cares much either way :P ;D

I meant a proper pet, not your little rat. Or Zok's overgrown rat either ;D

???????????
I prefer leather for the dogs - much easier to clean off the fur and the paw prints.
Unless your pets like to scratch I suppose.

nice motor, and give me cloth over leather any day :y

Not so much your pets scratching, but more the leather gets scratched by claws as gogs etc jump on them.

Yep the DTi Elite's have cloth as well. Has been good this winter, however, if someone came along with late (mat) facelift Elite leather i'd contemplate it ::) :y

My saloon used to have charcoal velour, which I didn't really like, it now has the correct late matt effect leather fitted, took me a long time to find the correct style leather as it was only fitted to post '52' vehicles.
Leather can be cold as we all know, but I prefer it...I think it looks better. But, I find velour or cloth collects fluff/lint or whatever you want to call it which then sticks to your clothes. I have an overcoat which stays fine in my Elite, but as soon as it goes in the Focus we have with cloth it picks up so much stuff from the seats.
-
first of all that estate looks mint!!!
secondly, cloth as an optional extra instead of the leather? never heard of that and why anyone would do that? lol
thirdly that cloth looks exactly the same as the cloth in my CD. my car is also the first time ive ever seen heated seats with cloth, i alwaysthought it had to be leather... but its really awsome.
migs forever!!!
:) :) :) :)
-
I've got an Elite estate with cloth, I would have preferred leather but I've grown to love it :)
-
oh yeah i wasnt saying its not nice cos ive got cloth too and i love it.... i just dont see why anyone would choose (and normally optional extras cost more) cloth over leather? :)

As said, for 3.0/3.2, cloth was a no cost option. Not everyone is gay enough to want leather, as it suffers far more comfort problems than cloth.
-
On the 3.2 Elite, velour instead of leather was a no cost option (NCO)
I've only seen four 3.2 Elite's with velour instead of leather, so there are a limited amount out there.

lol
well over leather or cloth its leather every time for me.
my mate had a ford granada. one of the most comfortable cars ive ever been in. that was leather and the leather seats seemed to mould around you and hug you and were loooovely. mmmmmmmmm :)

I agree with prefacelift leather, it looks too shiny and more like vinyl.
Even facelift leather from 1999 'V' to 2002 '02' looks a bit crap, but I really do like the post '52' leather.
-
i just meant leather seats in general ;)
ive actually never been in another omega (with/without leather) so ill have to try it ;)
-
but I really do like the post '52' leather.
One word, Mr joshwyatt, rthymes with Hay.

So in a Champagne model with late spec Leather does one Gay cancel out the other? Or does it become double Gay ;D

Go for the treble, a brown steering wheel (as fitted to pre 2002 beige interior cars)

And through in any Apple product to really confirm it...

And LEDs. Don't forget blue or white LEDs, if you are trying to attract non-female relationships....

Is there any leather interior on a modern vehicle you like?

He means non MV6, kinda agree, its comfy, but chuck an Elite into a corner my arse looses grip on the seat!

To be fair, the seats could be made of Velcro and it wouldn't make any difference on an Elite.
Truly horrendous at spirited cornering in Elite guise.

Jamie shouldn't have as much trouble moving side ways in an Elite seat as he fills it better than you. ::) ::) ::) ::)

Leather seats are fundamentally flawed. Burn in summer, freeze your gonads in winter until the heaters kick in. And on a hot day, even with the A/C working overtime, you still end up with a sweaty back.
Cloth have no such faults.
So whilst they (excluding the early elite ones) might look nice, they are pretty impractical....

All in your humble opinion! ;)

It is my opinion, you're right :y
But cold in winter and hot in summer seems a bit daft. In my humble opinion, of course :P

Cloth Omega elite seats look lovely, leather is nice but has to be heated and cooled I think.

Summer I agree it can get hot. But in the winter I have clothing between me & my seats so can't say it's particularly cold! ;)

It is... Heated in Summer and cooled in winter ::) ::) ::)
That said, I prefer Leather. Although I normally prefer lighter colours. Black car, biscuit leather.... Yum yum :y :y

You mean you've not experienced it in person yet :-X :-X ::) ::)

IMHO, the 'Summer' issue isn't really relevant with cream leather...... my Cavalier with Black leather is a nightmare.
The 'Winter' issue is remedied by the fact the heater in the Omega supplies hot air very quickly and the heated seats (when working) are pretty quick too.
Also, if it's minus 10 celcius, cloth will be just as cold. Not sure there is much difference in cloth/leather when it comes to the cold tbh. :-/

You'll still have a sweaty back with a cloth seat, its just the cloth will soak up that sweat and it will fester there all smelly and minging ;D

Guys if anyone comes to Croatia and wants to swap leather facelift seats for a velour one just give me a call :y (although I seriously doubt someone will take my offer :'()
-
I've been reading this thread with great interest.
My car (MFL '99 Elite) has standard leather. However, I've just managed to get hold of a cloth interior for it and will be swapping the interior over soon - well, when I've got the heaters working again.
I had a bit of a job getting a cloth set. I advertised in the wanted section but had no offers. I eventually found a non running '99 Elite that was going cheap on fleabay and fairly close to me as well. The reason it was cheap was that it was really badly decribed and I had to quiz the seller about it. I then towed it home (if the AR25 was ok at the start of the journey it certainly wasn't at the end ::)), out with the interior, off with the cats and then down the scrapyard. A couple of the seat motors don't work but I can swap them over easily enough.
The interior is in excellent condition and the donor car had done very similar miles to mine.
Dont you just love it when a plan comes together .....
He he he ......

2 quick questions....

Yes, I prefer cloth. The donor cost £250 but I got much more than that in parts/scrap - so the cloth was essentially free to me :y
