Does anyone know whats happening with car tax prices from april. I'm considering changing my X plate Omega for a newer 3.2 Omega, but I don't fancy £435 quid a year tax? :-/

Yes before 1st march 2001.
Thanks, I was getting a bit worried for a moment it was going to cost a fortune, why are cars cheaper to tax if they were registered before March 01 ?

Newer cars are measured on emissions rather than engine size. :y

Just paid mine today .. £235 .... saved a WHOLE £10 .... for being "Dual Fuel"
Don't know if I should ;D ;D ;D or :'( :'( :'(
In answer to the question "why cheaper if registered before 2001" ... the previous government didn't want that to be .. but there was a major "fuss" when they tried to change the tax retrospectively ... the compromise was the linking of emission bands and the 2006 K band and the flat rate for pre 2001 cars as many don't have registered emissions levels.

Thanks, any Idea how much it would cost me if my car was registered in April 01 instead of Jan 01, just that I had an old Mondeo for years and didnt really take any notice if it didnt affect me.
