Loving the PA Cresta/Velox, i'd have one of these over a senny or Lotus carlton...REALLY. 8-)
The cortina is a saloon version of my estate down to the colour & 1966 D plate. New cars are boring.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11RvAsiP8zQ&feature=feedf 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) :y

they are cool!!!!! 8-)
-
that blue triumph at the stockyard was cool and it was auto :-*
-
You are sooooooooo right Guy! :y :y :y :y :y :y :y
Both the Vauxhall Vellox and the Ford's take me right back to another cool age! I always hoped my father would learn to drive and buy a big Consul, Zephyr, or even better Cresta PA!! But he never did, with his first car a 1965 Morris Oxford (AOU 772C) which he bought in 1966. It was not the same, but still a great British car 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
Anyway with all those bench seats I'm always reminded of a song that was constantly on the radio in the late 1950s that caught my imagination:

Some old cars are cool, don't get me wrong (like the Cresta - looks cool!).. but some.. just look like old cars to me (like the recent thread about Sierras and all the talk about Senators)
Now this, this is a cool old car:

You must be sooooooooo young Aaron so you do not appreciate them as us older ones do!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

;D ;D Oh no, I appreciate cars from the 50's, 60's, 70's and some stuff from the 80's (I wouldn't say no to an 80's Aston, for example) but regular passenger cars of the 80's? Doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid.. A Sierra is no different to an old Datsun Bluebird.
Some stuff is different, mind.. Mk1 Escort? Mk2 Escort? Escort Cosworth etc.. they're nice.
Still not as nice as something from the 50's through 70's though :)
(And yes I am a mere whippersnapper at 32 ;))

Yep you are! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I had brand new cars that are now older than you. In fact 1980s cars are 'modern' to me! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

I caught myself drooling the other day when I had a Triumph Dolomite Sprint parked next to me in the car park...
I know they have the reliability of a Chocolate Fireguard in a heatwave, but, there is something about the styling (and there are many nicer and much more lustable cars)... So many modern cars look so similar and lack difference...
-
A school friends grandfather had a Dolomite (I think!) - lovely looking cars.
Triumph TR6 - there's another beauty (all went a bit wrong with the TR7!) though the TR3 is the real head turner for me.

It's ok Lizzie, I like an older lady ;)
(Did I just say that out loud?)
And my being 32 didn't stop the insurance fella calling me old earlier today! (Well, technically he agreed with me and said "Yes, being over 30 does reduce premiums")

my last aggro was a van den plas 1500 auto :-X,slow as hell and crap on fuel, once I swapped it for a twin carb 1750 maxi manual lump it went rather well :D ;D
-
My first car was an Aggro 1100S - every time it rained it filled the little 'shelf' on the passenger side up with water .. making the passengers legs very wet the first time you took off down the road ;D

What about these little flyers then? The 1300GT. Not fast by todays standards but very nippy in the 70's.

This picture illustrates just what I dont like about the classic car scene, the owner has stuck some chip baskets over the headlights and has some useless info on A4 sheets resting on the dashboard. On the plus side he dosent have a piece of varnished plywood with various rosettes and photos of the restoration nailed to it leaning against the front bumper ::)
