Not sure how that was caused by a cow... No damage to the front either :-/ :-/

Perhaps it was a "Flying Cow"  :-X :-X :D :D

Also, I've seen the damage an impact with a cow does first hand... Fiat Ducato vs Cow at about 30mph... Totally trashed the Van, cow licked it's ar$e and walked off :o ;D

You may be right there LD :y :y

I have heard of cases where a horse, cow, or sheep has jumped through a fence from a field onto a passing vehicle on the road that is below the level of the field.  This could be such a case ;)

Could well be... But it doesn't seem like enough damage for a cow IME ;)

How high is a cows belly from the ground?

How low is the bonnet of a Mig when under heavy braking?

How robust is a cows leg(s) in comparison to its body?

Sadly, I have investigated far to many crashes over the years involving cars and animals (and I include humans under the animals header) so that the front of the car, whilst appearing undamaged, will show marks and scratches where it impacted the cows leg(s).  Such is the cars speed that the bulk of the animal has no chance of dropping floorwards before the screen/A pillar and roof come into play.

Its is a very common error to say that someone was 'run over'.  In truth, in the vast majority of instances, they are run under - unless already lying on the ground.....   :'(

I have seen instances where the rear end of a cow/bullock has been forced through the screen/roof and into the back seat with minimal markings to the front of the car.

A couple of tonne of heifer versus people sat in cars and speed? No contest...

I asked the question ...

Quote
Dear srl172,

Hi ... if that hit a cow which rolled over the bonnet.. how come there is no damage to the front of the car or the bonnet ?? Sorry .. but a) I'm curious and b) sceptical :(

-entwood

and got the answer ...

Quote
Dear entwood,

It was at slow speed approx 20mph and the cow was running out of a side road it was thrown over the front across the bonnet and aver the near side in the blink of an eye.

-srl172

Up to you if you believe are as sceptical as I am ...  :)

especially give Broocies answer above ... the slower the speed the LESS chance of "no" damage IMHO

Last week I weighed in a Vectra shell, no engine, exhaust, cat, loom was cut out and the alloy wheels had been removed.

890 KG's - £150

I have my doubts that a *real* 20 mph or less collision would allow a couple of tonne of cow to clear the bonnet.

My interpretation of the damage was that he wasn't going fast enough to have cleared the legs (and would almost certainly have damaged the front bumper if he were) and cause so little damage to the roof.

I agree with you H21, I have seen plenty of "animal" damage to vehicles and would expect either more damage to the bumper or more to the roof  :-/

Well I think it was a flying pig he hit but he didn't think anyone would believe him so he 'inflated' it to a cow! ;D ;D ;D

Hit a small deer at 50 ish, braking hard. Deer broke a headlight bracket and pushed the bonnet back behind the bumper line. Came quite close to putting the fans through the radiator. Fortunately it the went under the car... :-[

I would be asking the local constabulary if they're missing a car from a hit and run. :-/

Roof is probably an easy repair without the screen in. Wouldn't bother though. :-/

Not a nice thought I know, but I can't help wondering just how did they get the cow out again  ;D ;D

Tractor and chains.  One for the cow, one for the rear of the car & nearby tree...   ;)

It's the shape of the crease on the roof that makes me skeptical...  Along with the intact sunroof...

I can see the trim that is damaged under the nearside headlight, but the bonnet appears undamaged, which I would expect to be heavily damaged up by the windscreen and also some damage to the dash...

It looks much more like an argument with a traffic sign to me....

I honestly could not care if a cow hit it or not, thats a cheap breaker there with a 3.0 litre lump. If it was closer I would have it and I wouldnt even question how it was damaged.

At the end of the day it aint going back on the road so who really cares if a cow hit it or not?

What has the seller got to gain by not telling the truth?
