yeah that is a stunner. big car though. if you wanted a luxury barge would a maybach not be the choice. you can basically fully recline in the back!!!!

Jaguar XJ.  The only word I can use for it is gorgeous.  Forget all this baloney about twinky fat old-man Mercs and taste-free Maybachs for wizened Versace fans, the Jag is the only saloon that has that naughty gleam in the eye that girls were warned by their parents about.

in my opinion, that bmw doesnt touch the jag in any way.... maybe acceleration.

class, style, comfort etc.

eh?  How does this look like a Mundane Webby?

Okay, I think you might have meant the XF and really I was looking for an excuse to post a pic of the XJ with Elle McPherson.  Yum.  I still disagree with your point tho'.  But then Jaguar would have to stoop to BMW levels of Nora Batty ugliness before I complained.  That thankfully ain't gonna happen any time soon with Callum and Thomson at Whitley.

The old XJ was lovely, but the 68 original was a thing of wonder.

There was a Mondeo and an XF in McDonalds the other day, parked right next to each other, they're pretty much identical, and the Mondeo isn't much smaller  :-/

yup, i imagine the interior is from the ford parts bin too???
Title: Re: best new car in the world at the mo???
Post by: bluey on 13 February 2011, 16:58:22
I don't buy this similarity thing.  Beyond having a wheel at each corner and the general proportions they are utterly different.  The interior doesn't have anything out of a generic Ford parts bin either, unless Dearborn has started fitting stuff like rising gear selectors (it's worth having one just for that!) and the like.

They are still based on the old S-TYPE platform, which was a co-development between Jaguar and Ford although that is a bit tenuous as it has been stretched and pulled around a lot for the new model and there are almost no shared components, and Ford stopped using the underpinnings a few years back.  The Mundane by the way uses a Volvo platform.

My frien has an XF.
It is nothing like Mondeo on the inside.
Luxury but the quality of the car is not that great.
He already had problems with the electronic parking brake and the ECU

not what you expect for the price of that car

Regardless of the badge on the nose I wouldn't expect that on any car if I was buying it new.

I don't really get these electronic parking brakes.  What was wrong with the handbrake lever?
