Title: MK3 ASTRA SRI "L" REG
Post by: bestie26 on 15 February 2011, 00:00:37
my father in law has the above thats been sat in a garage for 6 years and was going to scrap it :'( it was (6 yrs ago) a cracking car that would still clean up well today , unfortunatly he lost the keys years ago and its belled up to the eyeballs alarm imobiliser anti-jacking ect locks doors when you start it ect , decent bit of kit in its day.
I would love to see it back on the road , whats the chances of the system "dying" after 6 years in storage ? iam trying to convince him to at least try get it started only way is to break in and block it as the keys havnt been seen for a long long time but he's more on the scrap it side. Its only the alarm system thats the issue at the min such a shame to scrap!

After 6 years I would have thought any battery either in the alarm or the car battery would be flat...

The last glove box lock I looked at had half the amount of tumblers that a door lock had.  :-?

Correct Mr B - that was certainly the case with the glovebox lock on my Mk3 Cav, which was 1991 so from the same era as the Astra in question  :y
