Title: Coil packs from scrappies....
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 07 July 2007, 23:36:15
Dont bother  :(

Bought one last tuesday off vx scrappy dealer last week....

Put it on veccyC this morning to test it.......causes missfires on lpg and petrol...lpg being worse.

I found a way to test coilpacks.....only fitted tho....get the revs to about 1500rpm.....and floor it.....if it coughs.....its the coilpack  :y Over 2k revs and it will be fine....1500rpm seems to be the decider test  :y

So i'll have to take it back next week (dealer said it would be ok to return it)

Looks like i'll have to get a new one  :(

So James you'll get the relatively new one on the veccyB (6 months old) and works fine and i'll buy a new one for the veccyC

I have seen Bosch coil packs on flea bay for less than £100, so i would fit a new one, as they are supposed to be a pain to fit unless you have nice slim hands.. ;D ;)

New ones on Ebay are 65 quid and yes you do need slim hands unless you have a Tunnie handy of course, you also need eyes that can see round corners  :D

Yep. Loo-knee, the DIS packs are on the back of the block and hidden, coil packs, which are the later DBW engines, sit on top of the spark plugs. So a much easier change.

Bit of a bugger that Dave  :(

Think yourself lucky it's not a Mazda  >:( £208 from main stealer  :o

Did think about going to a scrappy for that but it's one part that, previous mileage aside, isn't going to appreciate sitting in a field getting damp.
