Title: Bit of advise needed
Post by: Smiddy on 22 February 2011, 17:12:29
Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm off to look at a 2001 3.2 V6 Elite this Saturday, its a bit of a way to go and see it but I am sure I want to buy it so any advise on things to look at would be great  :)

After browsing OOF for about 2 hours (its very addictive) last night I got some good ideas of things to check and cam belt and oil + filter are already on my list of jobs if I buy it  :y

Just wanted to check if there is anything i should look out for on these and maybe how to check them.

Thanks.

I'll post some pics etc if i buy it  :)

Check for leaky cam covers and spots of rust around the arches.

Also do the pedal test.

Hi Smiddy, this is worth a look through & possibly printing off to take with you when you go to check the car out.  :y

Car is £1295 80k on the clock and it does say full service history although when i questioned the cambelt and when it was last changed the guy clearly didnt know anything about the car.

So its a case of waiting till i get to see it and have a look at the service book and if there is any receipts for the work done.

Ill still get the cambelt and a service done anyway just for piece of mind.

They did send me some extra pictures and it does look very tidy and looked after, only things wrong that he told me about -

Drivers seat doesnt go forward the last 2-3 inchs, rear blind doesnt work and CD changer doesnt appear to work but he wasnt sure if it was just the CD's they tried in it.

The seat will be coins (or other obstructions) in the runner, very common, & can be a PITA to remove.
Blind might also be stuck :-/ sometimes they just need removing and the motor moving a little. Then use it .... or lose it.  :y
