wow what a day yesterday, as a few of you know I was off to look at a 2001 3.2 Elite yesterday as I said in this post -
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1298394749
Got there ok, left about 7am and got there around 11 with a couple of stops on the way.
Had a good look around the car, engine looked fine, just needed a bit of a clean, service and cam belt change. the body work was perfect, couldnt see any scratches on it apart from swirl marks but they are easy to clear, no rust or even signs of any.
Inside was fine also, managed to get the coin out the drivers seat so that was moving ok again :)
Here comes the bad part -
While waiting for the guy to see to another customer i went in the petrol station next door to get something to eat, when I came back out the guy was just pull the car out of its space, it was out of petrol so was going to £5 in so i could take it out.
So he then pulls it in to the petrol station pops it in to reverse, then gives it a bit too much throttle and bang! hits a rather large white post! :o :'(

Rather pee'd off to say the least after taking that long to get there / cost of the petrol and what turned out to be a totally wasted day all in costing me about £100 for nothing
-
That was so unlucky!! :o :o :o :o
At least it wasn't you who reversed it into the post :D :D :D :y

I beleive the phrase is 'oops'
-
should have offered him £400 for it damaged ;)
-
Is the boot lid damaged as well, or is it just the bumper?
Did you consider making a reduced offer or was it damaged badly enough to put you off altogether?
-
I think the bumper took the worst of it but it did dent the boot as well, he wanted £800 as it was.
We hung around a bit and the owner came back and said it's going in the body shop monday and he will email more pics of it with the bumper off and when it's done and if I want we can work out a deal then
-
Shame really after a 4 hour drive!
Somerset to where?
In my local scrapyard there are 2 Omegas, 1 of them silver (my colour).
I am tempted to buy the front and rear bumpers and a few other bits, good to have these types of spares.
Being honest, I am never too worried about damaged panels, bumpers etc, as easier and cheaper to fix/ replace than mechanicals.
If only bumper & boot lid damage, offer 4-500 as is, & see what happens....... ;)
-
that looks substantial enough to have damaged inside too
-
sorry to see that happened :( boot and bumper needs change and also further effort will be necessary to correct inside damage which wont be easy for DIY :-/
-
Bugger! what a shame. Sounded like a decent buy until that happened.
-
That car just wasnt supposed to be yours! Bet the journey back seemed to take forever. Unlucky mate.
-
Hard luck there mate better luck next time
-
Car was in Bromley so going through london took ages.
He is going to send me pics of the damage and it again when its fixed, im still unsure whether to completely walk away.
Theres no harm in taking a look at the pics when he sends them, ill post them on here so you guys can take a look :y
-
As long as it has been repaired properly should be a nice car, but would want to see the boot floor tho,Gutted for you mate,
-
shocking! it least it werent you that did it!!! :y
-
Walk away, there'll be others - I'd rather have an untouched car than a damaged/repaired one - there'll always be things like paint match, leaks, explanations to next owner, bugger that ;D
