One of the Judges at work has asked if I can help diagnose a problem .. but I know nowt about oil-burners ..
Car is a 2001 SAAB 95 3.0 ltr turbo diesel with 92000 on the clock. problem is an intermittent one but seems to happen more in cold, damp conditions.
Starts fine and drives ok; if he has to stop at traffic lights / junction /roundabout within approx 3 miles of home (engine not yet hot) then, sometimes, a large smelly cloud of white smoke emanates from under the car, around the back end of the engine area - NOT exhaust tail pipe - that is bad enough to make passers by think the car may be on fire !!!!
Drives away OK and once warmed up does not cause any problems.
Been into a SAAB garage a couple of times but they say nowt wrong/cannot reproduce fault.
Was wondering if anyone here knows owt about these things ??? :)
