I've had way way over 100 cars, partly because of being in the motor trade and partly because I like a change.

First was a Black Ford Granada 3.0
The best was a 2007 '57' BMW M3 Coupé 4.0 V8
The one everyone liked the most was a 1996 Aston Martin DB7 Coupé
And the one that gave me the biggest surprise was a Sportive SE Astra Van.
The ones I've loved the most - '57' M3, 06 SAAB 93 2.8T Aero V6, 3.0 MV6 Manual.

Actually the one people commented on the most was my 2007 '07' Astra Van, that was heavily modified mind you.

..great thread by the way..  :y

OK - starting with the car my Dad effectively gave to run me shortly after passing my test:
1966 Rover P5 Coupe Mk3 manual  :y 13mpg  :o
1967 MG BGT  :y bit cramped  ::)
198ish Saab 99 GL Combi Coupe 5dr  :-?
back to the MG  :y
1984 Saab 900 GLE Sedan - very nice car
1986 Saab 900 CD Turbo lwb - 'twas a dog - kept it 4 weeks.  >:(
1986 Saab 900 Turbo 8v 5door - mint - went like stink - possibly the most stunning looking car I've owned  8-). Fabulous car - rust killed it  :-[.
Saab 900i 5 dr G plate -  :-X functional...timing chain broke ..oops ::) - not terminal but getting tired of it  :-/.
2001 f/l Omega 2.5 CD Estate -  :y hit a deer -  :'( resulting in:
2003 Omega 2.6 Elite  :y :y :y - every cloud  ;)
..also own since new:
2004 Volvo XC90 D5 SE - probably the most versatile and complete car I've ever owned  :) :)

Company cars along the way in parallel:
98 Astra 1.4L - OK
99 Vectra 1.8 GLS - nice car despite what people say
2000 Volvo V70 (Classic shape  :exclamation) It was either this or an Omega CD - the Volvo clinched it on comfort and build quality. Probably the most comfortable make of car I've owned.  :)
2001 Volvo V70XC - even better than the first one... :y  I handed this back when I got my XC90..

With the exception of a few Company cars and the 9000i - every car I've loved and always had that 'look back at it' as you walk away feeling about them. I've done huge mileage in all these - but the most expensive by a country mile I'm afraid to say has been the Omega  :'( - but I love them to bits..and they look fantastic.. ;)

Cheers
Ian.

Title: Re: Your previous cars......

From 1981 to present:-

1971 MG 1300 - bouncy. Gearbox failed after 6 weeks.

1968 Cortina 1600E - tatty, but terrific fun. Really loved this car...

1973 Opel Ascona 1.9

1978 Triumph 2500S - gorgeous. Would love another one of these, actually...

1975 Rover 2200TC - the start of a P6 Rover obsession that still lingers....

1974 Rover 3500S - bit of a pup. kept blowing head gaskets. Got shot for:-

1973 Rover 3500S - the most fabulous car I've ever owned. Drove up the M1 to pick this up from Flitwick, Beds, and still remember the huge perma-grin it induced on the journey back. A one-owner, no-expense-spared car, flawless and completely unmarked. I used to show this one at club events...hard times in 1985 meant I let it go, but for more than twice what i paid for it. Guy who bought it actually knocked on my door and begged me to sell it to him....

1978 Fiat 132S - full of rust (laughably so), bought for £65 at auction! Never let me down....remember it with fondness...

1975 Rover 3500S

1968 Jaguar 420G - awesome, and a rare manual model. Horrible colour tho....

1975 Triumph Dolomite Sprint - great when going, which sadly wasnt often enough...

After this one, sensibleness took over for a while, and I went through a period of buying throwaway cars from auctions - quite a few Renaults and Peugeots, until the desire to run something nice again took over....

2002 Peugeot 406 3.0 Coupe - the car with the biggest ticket price I've ever paid. Totally lovely, flawlessly reliable, and the sweetest-riding car i've ever owned. The V6 was sweet revving and eager, but could have used a bit more flat-out grunt. Kept it for 7 years, and still see it out and about now....

2001 Vectra B SRI 150 2.2 - bought very cheaply from a desparate seller. Never let me down in any way, but this only engendered grudging respect, not love. Harsh riding and undynamic, boring to look at. The measure of what I thought of it is that I washed it once in 14 months of ownership. Flogged it on with a new ticket for 3 times what I paid for it....

1995 Omega 2.5 GLS Estate - bought for £400 at auction as a cheap tow-car. The journey home from the auction opened my eyes! What a fabulous car! I had no idea! The start of the current Omega obsession! She ran for three years pretty much flawlessly, until the drivers door catch failed, the EML started coming on intermittently, and a major oil leak became apparent from the back of the engine. Scrapped with a heavy heart last year....

2000 Omega 3.0 Elite Auto - my current baby. Gorgeous. When money becomes available, I'll be making her even better. Really don't think I'll ever part with her. As somebody else mentions above, when I park it, I always look back at it. That means only one thing - auto-love!!

As said done to death but i've never bothered to list mine so....

MK1 2.0 L LHD Granada (yes I learned to drive in a LHD car in the UK!)
MK1 3.0 Ghia Granada
MK1 3.0 Consul (aka Granada) GT
MK2 2.8i Granada (seeing a theme yet  :D)
Now it changes a little....
Chevy Blazer K5, 350 engine
Chevy Vega Wagon tube front end, flip front, 350 engine
MK2 1.1 Escort estate
Rover SD1 3.5 VDP Janspeed turbo
Mk3 (I think) Mustang 2.8 hatchback
MK1 Carlton 1.8L
MK1 Carlton 2.0CDi
MK1 Carlton 2.2CDi
MK2 Carlton 2.0CDi estate
Omega 2.5 Elite
Omega 2.5 CDX estate
TBA..........

I'm sure i've missed some there but I plead old age

Longest owned/best the Elite, coming up on 9 years now
Shortest driven the CDX, 2 months before I cooked it getting it home from Devon
Most fun, now that's tough. Watching black cabs avoid the K5 on Hyde Park corner was memorable :), the Vega & the SD1 were both awesome in there own way.
If I could choose one pulled back in time it would have to be the Consul GT, blue over silver, manual box, it's the one I miss the most.

Erm, well here goes from 1996 - 2011

Triumph Dolomite Sprint - lovely car, started in allsorts.
Vauxhall Cav 1700 diesel - ran on virtually anything
Vaux Astra GTE - went like stink
Capri 2.8 special - + 2 concrete flags in boot  ;D
Citroen BX 19 TDI - Whatever possessed me  :-/
Peugeot 405 GLX TD - cracking car loved to pieces

Here's where I took a leave of my senses -

1986 Jaguar XJ12 - Drank like a bloody fish but the smile on my  face was worth it.  ;D ;D ;D
1993 Jaguar XJ Sport - (See above)  ;D
1996 Jaguar XJ Sport (manual) YUK!!! never get a manual Jag!!! >:(

Followed by a return to sensibility -

2000 Vaux Vectra 2.0 Diesel

That lasted a short while, one relapse later -

1996 Range Rover 3.9 Classic
2003 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI
1998 Range Rover 4.6  :D :D :D Blasted Air suspension Grrrr!!! Sorted after alot of Cursin & swearin (not payin LR prices)
2004 Kia Sorento 2.5 TDCI
1996 Land Rover Disco 4.0 Crunched by some £$%£%&%^$ who drove into the back of it, said they didn't see it????  >:( >:( >:(

& finally 2002 Omega 2.6 CDX - am finding it a lovely car!

Best car easily Jag V12 (although couldn't afford the fuel now)

Worst car Range Rover 4.6 Fed up of havin me head under the bonnett!!! & in the suspension. Lovely luxury car  but poor Rover reliability let it down. Air bags, pipes, pumps, valve blocks crap, easy to fettle if you can like me but ££££££ at LR. Same said of Air-con, & overheating problems.

From 1995 to now (being a whippersnapper):

1978 Austin Allegro 1100 S (rusty, red, round steering wheel)
1994 Rover Metro 1.4D (slow, dangerously broken subframe, company car!)
1994 Rover 218D (slow, heavy, no PAS, terrible brakes)
1997 Vauxhall Astra 2.0 Sport (fast, but handled like a boat)
1989 Nissan Bluebird 1.8GS autotragic (slow, rusty, boat)
1994 Renault 19 16V (fast, actually handled well)
1989 Renault 5 GT Turbo (fast, go kart, blew it up twice trying to make it go faster)
1989 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (fast, handled, blew the rear automatic gearbox oil seal resulting in a permanent smoke screen as the oil hit the CATs, amazing I never caught fire)
1992 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (faster, handled worse, proper gearbox with all three pedals, still sitting in my garage)
2002 Toyota MR2 Roadster (now with a dirty great turbo added, suspension work, chassis work, handles as close to an Elise as I can get with MacPherson struts - still run it every week)
1999 Peugeot 306 1.9D estate (most frugal car I've owned, giant boot, spat two core plugs out of the block and lunched itself after 3 months)
1996 Vauxhall Omega 2.5TD estate (gearbox was shot, bodywork a state, almost as bad fuel economy as it's replacement, the 3.2!)
2001 Vauxhall Omega 3.2 Elite estate (quick, handles like a cruise liner)

What's next? A replacement for the MR2.. hopefully powered by the 6.4L Ford V8 I'm picking up in a fortnight..

Passed test in '98

Mk1 fiesta 1.1 - kitted out by my old man to look like an XR2.

Xr3i - It had the obligatory bass box, alloys and big bore 4.

Nissan Sunny - Don't know what I was thinking when I bought it.  Was reliable though.

Mitsi FTO GPX - cracking little V6 and super reliable car. Insurance premium was a joke though.

Mitsi L200 - 1st ever new car.  Like it a lot.

Passat B5.5 V5 estate - capable but dull.

Omega 2.2dti CDX estate 2001 - Started the omega bug just wished it had a bit more poke

Omega 3.0 MV6 estate - current

Lost almost every thing so had to get a cheap car and ended up with my first Omega a 1996 2.5V6 Tourer for £230 with tax and test. It's still on my drive way as a spares car for my current Omega that I have had for nearly two years.

Its also a 1996 2.5 estate but its a CDX that cost me £350 so it must be scrap value now

Ok here it goes
1998 BMW 318 e30
1999 Fiat Croma CHT
2000 Lancia Delta
2005 Audi 100 2.5 tdi
2007 BMW 325 e36
2009 Omega FL 2.2

Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi which is my fathers car but I drive it relatively often.

I don't care what others will say but I loved the fiat, it was comfy, reliable and cheap to repair, bmw 318 was a sh... 325 was bulletprof but a fuel drunken bastard Lancia was  the best handling car of these all, audi the best built (after 15 years inside was still like a new car except the drivers seat)
