Title: I give up
Post by: Omega 37 on 15 March 2011, 22:52:58
after new gm wishbones, droplinks, steering idler, discs, rear springs & a visit to WIM.........
fitted 4 new uniroyal tyres 3 months ago & I have wear on the outside edge showing & intermittent wooly steering.
what in gods name do you have to do to make migs go in a straight line, love the car but this is getting silly!!!!!!!
feel better now :)

How about contacting WIM and telling them of the problem ?. If it has been set up as per, there should not be a problem.

Any track rod or baring play ?

Jack the fronts on stands and wiggle the wheels for play, guide in FAQ.

Replace front shocks and top mounts.  :y

This is the only 'extra' thing that I've done to mine, not had a problem since, (feverishly touching wood  ::)).

Shot wheel bearings will cause your wear on the outside edge, although more commoly as patches of wear around the circumferance of the tyre. Is it all the way round.
Contact WIM and speak to Tony asnd ask his opinion.

Chris, you're losing your touch, mate. :o You forgot to tell him to avoid F**ken tyres. :y

But yes, tyre choice can come into it, and they generally get worse as they wear.

I think your best course of action is to back to Tony.
He's the man who has all the equipment to tell you exactly what's wrong.

Sell your omega.
NEVER lol
The wear is all the way round, I have rainsport 2 tyres.
There is a crunching noise coming from the the struts when I drive over the old style speed bumps :(
I will check the track rods tom.
Chris told me about falkens (after I fitted them to my firenza & wifes punto :-[)
I got a price for the front shocks & mounts bl@@dy expensive even with ex-employee discount.
I am wiring a shop in amersham next week so I will pop into wim & see tony.
thanks for all the advice :y
