Hi all,
Been running my new omega for a few weeks now and is the first time I've used LPG.
I have a 3.0 minifacelift elite estate, with a 50ltr doughnut gas tank.
I'm getting 190-200miles on 45/46ltrs of gas.
Can you tell me if this is good going or not so good plse?
TIA :y

Thats a little low for a 3.0, really depends on what type of driving you do. thats working out at 18p per mile, (assuming you paid 79p litre) remember mpg is not the way to calculate LPG savings. :y
In the summer on long runs you should be able to nudge 16p per mile if the fuel prices drop, my record is 10.3p a mile :o

Hi Tunnie,
The driving is a mixture of round town and distance. I'm not overly heavy on the right foot but I don't drive like miss daisy either ;)

I'd say that's spot on for a V6. About 20MPG on LPG.

Doesn't sound horrendously out to me... What kit is it? Single/Multipoint?
-
I've no idea as to what kit it is TBH. I got the car off my dad as he didn't like the black leather interior!! :)
I do need to find a mech who knows LPG to take a look at it for me in the near future though. When ticking over, she tends to hunt slightly and can occassionaly be a bit "rough" when trying to pull away gently in slow traffic etc. :'(
-
When most of us started the LPG route we were working on around 15p/mile as a basis figure.... but LPG was then around 55 p/litre !!! petrol (115 p/litre) on the same calculation was around 25 p /mile .. so the "saving" on LPG was around 10 p / mile .. it was on this basis that most of the "when will it pay for itself" type calculation was made ....:)
Fuel prices have changed .. petrol now 134.9 p/litre !! LPG 74 p/litre. However my "spreadsheet" still shows about the same savings of 10 p/mile (OK for the purists it is currently 9.87 p/mile over 30666 miles .. :) ) although over the last 6 months it has dropped to 8.98 p/mile, mainly because LPG has gone up more, % wise, than petrol.
Those figures are for a 3.2 V6 :)
HTH :)

Its more than I get from my 2.5. I usually get around 180 miles from approx. 50 litres.

You only do town driving? Thats only 16mpg and about 22p a mile :o
-
Almost all on single carriage way roads, although not usually in town. Mostly rural roads. Its due a cambelt and service soon, so hopefully that will improve things.
If I drive a bit more gently I can get 200 miles sometimes.
-
I average 300 miles on about 60 ltrs. My record is 320 miles... :) So I'd say that your figures are way out Albs :-/ Unless you wear a concrete right boot :D
-
Nope, drive fairly gently, rarely go over 70mph. The most wasteful time is driving home from work in the mornings, getting stuck behind school buses - stopping and starting through little villages etc. :(
On the rare occasions when I do a long motorway journey, it is much better.
-
Have you checked your breathers Albs? I think I've seen on here that blocked breathers can affect the fuel consumption? As well as blowing the dreaded camcover gaskets!! :(
Also have you checked the consumption on petrol?
-
Cleaned breathers twice in the last 9 months.Never really run it on petrol tbh. MID shows 24mpg, but running on gas thats not going to be very accurate. ;)

Not a million miles from what I get on petrol doing (by the sound of it) very similar journeys - mostly single carriageways, rural roads, behind the 40mph-gang - I get about 19mpg on petrol, so I'd expect a bit less on LPG.
-
My stats start early November, covers 1050l of LPG, and my average MPG on LPG is 19.6mpg, so sounds like OPs is about right.
Due to the massive variation in LPG prices, ppm is all over the place, 16.3ppm for last tank, but have managed 19.7ppm a few tanks ago.
-
hi I have a 3.2 auto facelift estate and consistently achieve 16.5 - 17 ppm on LPG. Although 12 months ago it was 3ppm cheaper! Good mix of motorway and city.

I have managed 16mpg over a tank, but I was *REALLY* trying constantly late :o

Just done a run to Swansea & back, 300 miles round trip. Spent £51 on gas. Works out at 17p/mile...
So thats the going rate :y Well chuffed.
Oil, plugs & filter change in just over a 1000miles, so that will keep the girl going sweet!
