The other day i went to a vauxhall dealers to ask about having the car hooked up to the computer so i could see what gets shown only to be told that my 2000 2.2 omega can not be plugged in as it needs tech 1 and they dont do that any more but i thought it needed tech 2 ? They didnt even look at the car just kind of giggled at me. Why do dealers have such a hate for the omega, another dealers i went to told me to scrap the car !!!

They obviously don't know their 4r$e from their elbow. You car will talk to a a Tech II :y
Why do you want it connected up? problems? EML?
-
Being obd2 compliant it will talk to any generic reader to varying degrees. Tech2 is the daddy though.
Dealers want you to buy a new car basically. Would think they'd want the business in the current climate the idiots. Anyway, your far better off with one of the tech2 owners on here. Cheaper, and they know how to use the thing, which you won't get at vx when their hoodies get hold of it, even if they do plug it in.
So what's up with it?
-
Tech1 for pre 1997 cars, Tech2 for 1997 on. Tech1 won't talk to a 2.2 Omega.
I wouldn't allow that dealer to touch your car. Ever.

The Dealers never cease to amaze me :(

Well i have changed the crank sensor but the eml is still on so i need to see what its saying plus i would like to clear the system so if it comes on again i know the new prob, im thinking its still the lamba sensor not reading right even thou its brand new vauxhall part, so far changing the crank sensor has helped the gearbox prob, but i haven't been on a run from cold yet. :y

I just bought a Maxscan GS500 off ebay for £50, which is probably close to what a dealer would charge you to read your codes once. I can now read and reset my codes whenever I like, on this car and probably any future car that I own. Why not get one and you can be free of dumb dealers for ever!

another example of the dealers being rubbish. i'm thinking of starting a campaign against them!!!!! >:( >:( >:(

Maxscan will only work on 2.2,2.6 and 3.2, and can only read the engine ecu, so its only a minimal solution

Well, the OP's got a 2.2 and for £50 it still compares well with what a dealer would charge to read the codes anyway.
(Oh, and it also reads the Auto Transmission codes).
