Title: Tyre black
Post by: Paddy Flannery on 23 March 2011, 19:48:11
How do I get that long lasting showroom sheen on the outer walls of my tyres please ?

Have 5l of tyre shine that I blagged from a valeter a couple of years ago, but it only looks good for a day or so. Any tips please ?

Cheers.

Either use the car wash guys in Sainsbury or Tesco car parks (£7 for a full wash, wax, and tyres that look like new for a week) or go to Halfords for a aerosol of tyre blacking.  That also last about a week, dependant on weather of course! :D :D ;)

I use mequiars gold class endurance high gloss tyre gel. Wouldnt use anything else. Long lasting, Especially if you do it regularly to keep it up. Also doesnt streak down the wheel like most other cheaper products.

I've been using this for years now , I buy a half a dozen tins each time it's for sale and use it on all of the cars and van several times a week . It lasts and is great for under arch treatment too.

Another one for Maguires Gel, don't waste your money on anything else. Certainly don't abuse your car and take it to a supermarket spit and grit - your paying £7 to have your paint damaged.

personally prefer water based dressings that dry not stay wet and slimey and sling everywhere when you drive the car, currently using finishkare's top kote tyre dressing which is very good, poorboy's bold and bright gels supposed to be quite good as well :)

Best stuff I've found is Wilkinson's own Tyre Foam Cleaner (not tyre shine - that's pants IMHO...)

Costs less than £2 a tin, and usually get at least 4 applications out of it.  And each application lasts about 4 weeks - more if the weather is dry.

I used to use Amour-All Tyre Foam, and find the Wilkinson's stuff slightly better - and a good £3 cheaper with it too  :y
