Single track road with passing places, had to drive over a small mound and blew a seal in a rear damper. During the bouncing ride home the rear spring broke.
Booked in on thursday £100 labour plus parts, But how
much for the parts I hear you ask, I'll let you know.
Now I've got to use my son's Mk1 Punto oh Joy !!

I suspect both were on their way out anyway.
Shocks and springs need to be replaced in pairs. If your mechanic says otherwise, tell him he is a retard, shouldn't be allowed near cars, and take it somewhere else.
Being an Elite, you probably have self levelling, so shocks are around £150 a pair (on Trade Club, genuine GM), pattern self levelling springs are around £120 from factors (self levelling springs for elite are different to non self levelling springs, and more expensive :(

Get the KYB springs for self levelling shocks, you'll have a heart failure if you see the price of the GM ones!

Ok thanks for the tips.
