Title: Wheel refurb recommendation?
Post by: feeutfo on 27 March 2011, 12:56:00
Not just paint but a slight ding on the inside rim. Anyone got a recommendation?

Locally Elite wheels charge £70 a wheel.  :-/

Could try the place I used to refurb the MV6 wheels. I think they can build up bad areas to an extent, but not straighten buckles IIRC

Nearly 2 years ago, £140 for all 4, pleased with result.

if the refurb is not urgent and you have some time in your hands, imo its better you sand the old paint on wheels until there is no paint left.. so that they can focus on their painting..(from my experience)

and buckled wheels can be corrected and filled up in case of fracture.. so no big deal for a pro.. :y

Out of round can be sorted, true buckles cannot according to my research (when I had toffee MV6 wheels)

The inside edge of the wheel has a ding in it that isolates up and down, there appears to be no side to side issue....? Would think that can be sorted?

Don't suppose anyone else needs a set doing? Group deal style?

mostly they have high ratios of aluminium .. can be heated and corrected in every angle.. but sometimes with the cost of damaged paint..

That can be sorted. Its quite barbaric, so best you're not watching ;D, but one of WIM's suppliers have a special jig, and I understand its done cold.
