Title: First proper trip in That Bloody Elite
Post by: TheBoy on 30 March 2011, 10:40:14
We had a weeks holiday in Tenby, South Wales, last week. Because most of the time we would have 5 adults in the car, and the MV6 having a saggy arse at the moment, against my better judgement, we took the Elite (and copped the cost of petrol - ouch!).

Surprisingly, the weather was fantastic, and we had a great time.

However, I was apprehensive about trusting the Elite - despite having it for 8 or 9 months, it hasn't really been on a proper trip before (its been to Newent, my Mum's in Cambridge and Marks DTM's place).

Well, it performed virtually flawlessly, with the only issues being passenger CDL only working 99% of the time early on, and one of the keyfobs having kanckered switches (I have a load of new switches here), will try to get them soldered in this week.

Here are some pics of That Bloody Elite on tour ;D

One of the viewpoints overlooking the sea fog between Fishguard and Cardigan. It was so thick, you couldn't see over the edge of the carpark :o

So we went inland, this is where the fog stopped

A small picturesque place called Gwbert, near Cardigan, overlooking the estuary

Looks good.....But is the car growing on you?

I know you have similar unexplainable attachments to your old one, as I did.

Mine is growing on me, as the niggles get sorted bit by bit, but I've no attachment to it at all yet.

Its definately growing on me, more through its boring 'just does what it says on the tin' rather than any excitement, if that makes sense...

Though I jumped in the MV6 to nip other to Northampton, and immediately "gel'd" with the car, and had myself some fun ::).  I think I might have torn past Ianu on the A43 near Towcester (was certainly a J reg black Elite) at a rate of knots ::)

So what's the difference. Suspension and engine tune? Easily applied to TBE.
CID, easy swap for you. what's the issue? Move on!  :-?

Can't put my finger on it tbh.

Mrs TB likes the Elite more than I do, but even she says things like 'its nice to be back in the old girl' etc...

Thanks :y

I think it is a good car. A very good car. A fantastic cruiser - we got back from Tenby to Oxford in no time, including a break, still managing a near speed limit average ::)

But I prefer my MV6, despite its 174k and iron oxide...

Cracking pics TB  :y

Omega's are like your favourite armchair - you just need to get the seat moulded round the shape of your @r$e before you're fully comfortable with it!  :D
